This is literally the best video I found to date on the subject. Lots of videos are about "natural remedies", not realizing a lot of those oils they used actually make things worse for a lot of seborrheic dermatitis. I have Atopy, as well as my son. A genetic defect, the cause of our astma and tons of allergies. Most oils added to generic shampoos/treatments trigger contact allergies with us. Almond oil and tea tree oil are the worst.. I didn't know there were salicylic acid leave ons, which sound perfect for us. We can't shower or wash our skin/scalp often, because it increases our eczema and itchiness. I learned a lot from this video and I hope we can finally find something to control the flakes. Thank you so much! ☺️

However, I found an AMAZING dermatologist in my area that knew exactly what is was within 2 minutes of examine me. I was so happy to know what it was. I could face it head on. Holy moly.. I think I’ve dealt with this… for years now… I’ve always been told I’ve had a dry scalp. Mentioning how stress can cause a flare up of this makes so much sense. For the past month I’ve started to get red scaly patches of this especially around my mouth/nose/cheeks area on my face. Last month my grandma passed away unexpectedly and a week ago one of my best friend’s passed away as well. Since then the amount of stress I’ve felt is overwhelming.. with that the patches on my face have gotten much worse and very irritated..

I just started having issues after my daughter was born. It has really done a number in my self esteem. My dermatologist prescribed the ketoconazole and hydrocortisone 50/50 mix for 2 weeks and it just didn’t really help a lot. I am so encouraged after watching this and can’t wait to try some of these products. I feel like a monster. Even covering it up with makeup is difficult because of the scaliness and flakes. I tried them all and that's the only thing that didn't dry my hair and skin out. You just have to be consistent. I'd use it every night on my face, lather it up and leave it on for about 5 minutes and rinse. For my scalp, I'd do it twice a week. Once I cleared it up, I used it once a week for maintenance. The prescription strength Ketoconazole the dermatologist gave me broke me out so bad, I think something in it, does not agree with my skin.

@@whiteshadow943 Hi there! Regarding the face cleansers, what works for me are two products: La Roche-Posay Toleriane for sensitive skin when my DS is under control, and when I see that something may flare up I use a little bit of Nizoral shampoo in those areas, just a couple of times and then come back to the Toleriane. I'm a black woman with textured hair and the Head and Shoulders Royal Oils Daily Moisture Scalp Cream is amazing!!!! I chose to use T/Sal as my scalp shampoo and apply the scalp cream before adding my deep conditioner to my strands. My scalp feels CLEAN and my hair MOISTURIZED. I follow another great dermatologist on youtube who recommended how to use these products every week for textured hair and its been SO helpful!! Thanks for shouting out the H&S Royal Oils line :)

I got horrible seb derm on my scalp when i was 14, the same time I became allergic to dogs and nuts. Super thick scaley patches all over my scalp! It was horrible! My derm prescribed me all different topical drops to use, and various topical treatments to soften the scales. Nothing worked, except topical hydro cortisone 1% (scalpicin is the brand name) and Tsal shampoo! I’m now 20 and use the hydrocortisone drops 1x a week ish after showering and use the shampoo 2x a week. Did it every day until scales were gone. Took years to figure out what works for me but it was life changing!

Me and my dad have this. I have my dad's scalp. I waited so long to see a dermatologist, and I recommend people just *go* and see someone sooner rather than later. It often starts with an itch for me, and some flaking. The redness comes later, but sometimes it's just bad from the get-go. You never can tell. Your tip about letting Head & Shoulders sit for a couple minutes has worked wonders though, for beginning SD (just the start of some flakes at the temples for instance). I immediately told my dad. Now we don't have to bust out the Nizoral 2% that often (it's expensive at about 14.25 euro regular price for 100ml). Thank you so much for sharing that tip with the world! :D

I had another flare up that start in February of this year, and it’s still going. I have been trying everything I could find to help, but there isn’t very many thing I know about, because I’m still learning. I have never had to deal with anything like this before. I have never had problems with my skin, except for the occasional break out, so this was a really hard punch in the gut to my already low self esteem. This video was really helpful to me. I was diagnosed with seb derm when I was a teenager. It came back recently when I started spending a lot of time with my new boyfriend ! Right at the start of our relationship, I got red, flaky and sensitive patches on my nose, around my nose and lips, as well as flakes on the scalp around my face. Then we didn’t see each other during lockdown, and my skin got back to normal. As soon as we were reunited, the red patches and flakes went back ! I don’t see any other changes in my lifestyle that could have worsened this condition, and living as a couple hasn’t been stressful at all, quite the contrary.

I had this for a while i thought it was an allergic reaction to a face mask i wore, googled it realised it was fungal, decided to treat it with Aloe Vera that i grew myself, its huge lol, i detached a frond , filleted it to remove all the gel, split it into 5 parts put four parts in the freezer, then with the last bit i diced it up added some water and liquidised it, put this solution all over my head , instantly it felt relieved, did the same procedure twice a day, its been a week or so now and the flaky raw skin has completely disappeared, no chemicals used , cost Zero...
