I've removed these at home by applying a generous dab of salicylic acid gel (the kind used for acne) and topping it with a bandaid. Changed it daily for 2 or 3 days. The barnacle softened and began to disintegrate, and I was able to scrape the rest off with a thumbnail.

Hi Dr Dray! I have skin tags (acrochordons) everywhere but especially in the face around the eyes. Over the years, I have tried all the methods. The first time it was a surgeon who removed them from me and it was by laser. Every four years, I see a dermatologist and everyone has their favorite method. Of the methods I've tried, I hate cryotherapy. A feeling of pinch and burning that I don't want to experience in the future. I have to make an appointment but the waiting time is still too long. Here in Quebec, you have to be very...very...patient! No method has left any traces except once when I didn't choose a good dermatologist. Here we have a doctor's prescription and last time I paid $10 CDN for the liquid (nitrogen) but no cost to remove them. If you go to a private clinic, it's faster but you have to pay!

Thank you so much for doing a video about Seborrheic Keratosis. I am 43 and I have hundreds of them. They started appearing around 30. I am fair skinned, so when they started appearing, I thought they were sun spots because they are on my arms, legs, shoulders, all the places exposed to sun when wearing a one piece swimsuit. I don't have any on my stomach, breasts, butt, or face. They are all flat, light tan to light brown splotches. I am so embarrassed of them, to the point where I don't want to wear shorts. I finally had a dermatologist look at them a month ago and found out they are SK's and not sun spots. She said they are not related to sun exposure, though I think in my case they are seeing as though they are not on any parts of my body that have always been covered. I also now know it's hereditary, and my mom and maternal grandmother also had a ton of SK's all over their arms and legs. She said a laser wouldn't help, that it would only help if they were sun spots. That super depressed me since there's really too many to try and freeze or cut them all off. You have given me hope that a laser is still an option!

I had one and seemed like it was growing bigger (on edge left of forehead) so i put heat with hand-held red light "lamp" (5 mins, 3 separate times and forgot about it); a few weeks later i was touching it and a scab came off. It had gotten smaller so i may use it again. I told my dermatologist about it and he said that we don't really know much about this kind of lamp and suggested i not use it. I had ask doctor because a friend commented that i don't know if it "burns" the inner skin cells and should be careful.

Thank you so much! Any updates on Eskata? Sebacious keratosis are such a nuisance. If I have sebacious keratosis that is itching, is it covered by insurance? Another is being rubbed by a bra strap. Will something like dual fraxel remove them, even if that is not the primary purpose of the treatment?

Thank you so much, Dr Dray! I have lots of these on my trunk. My self esteem is in the toilet. I can’t even stand to look at myself, much less get naked in front of my husband. I’ve been getting a few removed via cryotherapy by the PA at the derm clinic. Two or three at a time, once a year, and they don’t always disappear completely. Meanwhile my skin is busily making six or eight more. I’m going to see a dermatologist in private practice and pay out of pocket for eskata. I’m tired of feeling like a sideshow freak.

My whole back is so itchy. I've seen a derm 3 times now, but they say they can't cut it off or anything. They've given me a cream, but it stings and burns, so in desperation they tried Accutane since I also have rosacea, but alas the side-effects were too harsh and didn't do anything for my back at all. I'm desperate for help, and don't give a shit about potential scarring.

You might call your insurance to double check on coverage. As I noted, my carrier does cover their removal. I had a ton...many on my back. Hated them and as for scarring mine fade...and who cares? As for pain, it's really not that bad; doesn't last.

Hi Dr. Dray! Thanks for the info. What would you recommend specifically for clusters of these on the eyelid. I have about 6 on each eyelid. I think it is from rubbing due to dry eyes. Because of the thin skin there is the freezing method best? Thanks for all your advice!

If you tell your dermatologist that you have a spot or mole you are concerned about, they will usually try to get you in right away. May be once there, the doc can freeze them - it takes just minutes!

Hi all, has anyone tried the Paula's Choice body retinol lotion? I'm noticing some aging on my body skin ("crepeiness" it might be called?) and I'm hoping to address it. Any advice is welcome.
@SilverGirl-9255 жыл бұрын
I tried Alpha renewal body lotion. It helped a lot with this.
@kam04065 жыл бұрын
I have used it until the bottle was gone. I didn't feel.it did anything to improve the look of crepe skin . I use alpha hydroxy acid and cetaphil lotion. I mix in some Becca liquid highlighter with if I wear shorts to give my legs some nice luminosity without having to do any self tanning. Sometimes I will also use a temporary bronzer. Make sure to use sunscreen if you use the alpha hydroxy acids as it will definitely make your skin much more susceptible to a sunburn. Hot and Flashy does a test of a retinol product for her crepey leg skin (it may have been the PC product, I can't recall). She took before and after photos and there was not a difference.
@DrDrayzday5 жыл бұрын
retinol is not as bioavailable as prescription retinoid. For crepe skin you would have to use it for a long time, consistently to see any results and likely very very modest

I know you're not my doctor but I'm in agony. Two days ago my dermatologist prescribed effezel gel to me for adult acne. It has 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and adapolane. I did everything right but last night I woke up to terrible itching, by this afternoon I developed what I believe to be contact dermatitis. My whole face is red, textured, itchy, sensitive, burning and painful. I took an allergy pill made for hives and phlogosam that's supposed to be a cream for skin inflammations, now I did a saline solution mask. My doctor is not avaliable until next Wednesday so I don't know what to do. Can you help me? :(

@@wap9137 the issue is, it's the only dermatologist at that company. And my GP is also out until Monday. The doctors that could cover for them cannot prescribe anything, only give otc products that I already have :(. I have had this reaction a few years ago to bpo so I should have known better, then a doctor told me to use an antiflammatory cream, a pill and saline solution, so that's why I'm doing that now. It would be good to have an actual dermatologist to give advice or confirm but it doesn't work like that in my country

She actually didn’t give me a name, but my skin is always dry and when looked under bright light, there’s a lot of little tiny bumps all over my entire face. my face is not red, not itchy and no rashes. and i have to exfoliate everyday or it will just continue to build up and it feels like there is this layer of film/dead skin over my actually skin. but even when i exfoliate it doesn’t completely go away. she only recommended i get my hair on my face “peachy fuzz” shaved once a month and get regular facials to keep my skin clean but it hasn’t helped get rid of the actual problem :(

I was fascinated with Dr. dray’s diagnosis because I hadn’t ever heard of this before. I looked up something on the Internet and there was a case abstract of a patient and it did clear after about 3 to 4 months with daily exfoliation using some of the products Dr. Dray has mentioned in prior videos such as ketoconazole shampoo chlorhexidine exfoliative wash and eventually it did clear for this patient in this abstract. So keep it up the prescribed treatment may work just needs more time, hopefully

I moved here in antipolo and started doing outdoor activities, gardening, and painting my exterior walls. I even had a few times of sunburn on my neck and my back. One time I was at cemetery I burnt on my back and neck it hurts. Than I burnt again on my neck when I was painting outside it stings and the skin were peeling off. If I go out even if I am wearing a shirt and a jacket it sting on my skin, the sun is too hot it burns. Than my back is getting too much sunlight from doing things outside than I notice I develop so much of this brown spots all over my back. I also develop on my face. This is very stressful to think about how I will get rid of this. Maybe I will try cautery. The doctor in government the trainees are not good at diagnosing I can pretty much diagnose myself better all the time. I'll get another check up on private but I hope it is a good doctor coz many are not experts, they just graduate but they don't really know much and they are not experts. They usually misdiagnose me. Like when i had dengue and the doctor think it was allergies, the signs and symptoms is all over and she is still not getting it (fever, dots that turned into patches, ear ache, headache, body ache, swellling joints) she ask me so many stupid questions too. Or when I had a chikungunia they thought i had a fungus, they actually scrape my skin omg. I was already with fever and was sore all over with arthritic feeling all over due to mosquito bite, had so much swollen joints and my fever was so high. and yet they think it is fungus geez. My skin were peeling off like snake after I healed. The pain was terribly unbearable. I also had the watery blisters, and I can't walk properly. It just started with a simple rashes that spread on my neck and chest, It was so itchy and everything started all sorta things from taht stupid mosquito bite. i hate stupid doctors. They keep misdiagnosing everything. It is hard to find experts here. Like this keratosis that doctor said it is verruca. How can this be a veruca wart when it doesn't even look the same. This is shiny and the shape and looks and color and the entire thing doesn't look wart. Plus it cannot possibly be spread by sunlight if it is wart. And I know for a fact that it cannot just happen all over my back for just being expose to sunlight. Warts don't grow from sunlight because it is a virus. And warts looks different, I check all pics online it doesn't look like it. And it doesn't spread anywhere else it just on back and face. If it is wart it will spread everywhere from bathing and scrubbing. I also develop so much moles on right arms. I am developing moles on my neck as well. Sunlight is really bad and we don't really need vit d, I mean my cousins never goes outdoor but they are not dying from not getting sunlight. I really need to stop outdoor activity, gardening and painting is not a good idea for somebody like me. I use to have fair skin now I am tan, and have so many spots. I feel so disgusted with myself bigtime. I think age spot is also related to aging. I am 46 so it is getting so bad. I am going to try to take gluta and lots of bit c and see if it helps me. ANd I need to hide from sunlight from now on. I will just let the plants die. My rapid growing mole on my neck is also in need of check up coz it is sometimes itching. I hope it is not cancerous, coz I'd rather die from heart attack than cancer coz cancer is very slow and expensive.
