How do you clear 2 samples if they in 1 song and they only about 2-3 seconds each do you just register 2 different works

@THEGLOWPRODUCTIONS in that case I would say yes but I would name both the same song and in parenthesis add one as sample 1 and the other sample 2

I got a question bro. I see that to clear a sample u gotta have the ISRC etc… I got a beat I made and I only wanna sell the lease on BeatStars (but obviously there’s no ISRC involved because it’s not going via a distributor). What’s the process for selling beats with samples which were on TrackLib? I’m not able to actually get the license because I’m not releasing it on DSPs

Beatstars allows you to include the third party sample used on the beat. When the artist buys the beat its there job to go to tracklib to clear the sample

So, I've got the song all registered and the submissions are in order. I'm just a bit puzzled about which royalties I'm responsible for. If they've got their own PROs, wouldn't that imply that their publishers are handling the royalties for that track? Am I supposed to retain my share of the publishing royalties and only pay out the mechanical royalties every six months? Also, does Tracklib provide me with information about the amount I owe? I'm still getting the hang of this, so pardon me if my questions seem a bit basic! 😅

Great video, it has been really useful! I am still scratching my head about a couple of things though. Are you also supposed to split mechanical royalties with the author and the publisher of the sampled track? Or is it that they only earn money as rightholders? What types of revenue are you meant to inform Tracklib about every six months? In case you do need to split mechanical royalties with the author and publisher, do you pay through Tracklib or do you pay them directly? I hope you can help me and all of those wondering the same. Peace!

Sorry Im a bit confused, what publishing are you using? Do you have your own publishing company or deal? I was thinking of using Ditto Publishing but do you know if Landr does the publishing too or is it just distribution? It’s just you kind of missed the publishing of your song step, and where does it come in the equation please. Did you maybe join ASCAP’s publishing service? Sorry for all the questions, great video btw thank you!🙏

@abelreyes9370 when thr artist register their song with tracklib, the original artists of the sample are owed royalties which tracklib will email the artist and provide them a link to report any royalties made from the song, if I remember correctly there is a threshold and once it's met the artist pays out those royalties to the original artist via tracklib

I'm confused about the publishing portion on your end. I'm from Canada and I self-release all my music thru Distrokid and I'm currently setting up my Songtrust and SoundExchange, what do I do for that portion?
@itsmaistro
@itsmaistro Жыл бұрын
If any of your music doesn't contain samples and you make all your beats then you own 100% of everything with songtrust and soundexchange. If you are using splits with another producer or artist then you include that in as well

Just wondering, do you gather up mechanical royalties using your self-owned publishing company and then compensate yourself? Or is it more like you let those mechanical royalties head straight to your artist side (which is still you)?
@itsmaistro
@itsmaistro Жыл бұрын
You can sign up to sites like somgtrust to help collect your mechanical royalties. Essentially mechanical royalties are generated when your music is streamed and downloaded and can also be collected via your DSP

No your pay directly from your bank I believe. But tracklib sends out an email to you to report any revenue you've made from the song every 6 months. if you haven't made any, you just state that in the form.

My distributor is CDBaby, and when I enter the song info, I need to specify the writers and their ownership percentages. The Tracklib license designates 5% for the sample writer and 5% for their publisher, leaving me with 90% (since I don't have a publisher). The challenge is that I need to ensure the total adds up to 100% for the songwriters on CDbaby. However, CDbaby doesn't let me assign a percentage to the publisher (5%). Should I set myself as the writer at 90% and the sample writer at 10%? Although I can assign a publisher to the sample writer, I can't choose the publisher's percentage. Any advice on what to do in this situation? Thank

Hey, thanks a lot for your quick response earlier, really appreciate it! So, I've got another question: Do you own "Kick the Funk" publishing? If you do, could you give me some tips on how to start my own? I'm asking because I'm up here in Canada, and our PRO is SOCAN - it's the only option we've got. They've got this rule where you need a publisher to register any music, which is a bit of a problem because I don't actually have a publisher. I managed to get around it by entering CDbaby as the publisher, but I'm not sure if that's really the right way to go about it since they're not exactly a proper publisher. Any thoughts on what I should do? @@itsmaistro
