Make sure you check if the park is opened as it was closed 6/7 months ago by the Argentinian government.

Good advice. The double back from camp to camp helps acclimate to the higher altitude. 1000 meters taller than Chimborazo. Pack plus hikes locally helps.

The roof of the Americas... Mount Aconcagua (South America) is the highest peak in the Americas, in the Western and in the Southern Hemisphere. The name Aconcagua comes from the native South American language Keichowa (Quechua) and means "the stone sentinel".

Would climbing 14ers be adequate or would I need experience at higher altitude?

I suppose a hot-air balloon ride is out of the question . While listening to the experience shared with those important dirty details of heavy backpacks , icy incessant wind, multiple camps through elevation climbs , I might come out saving money by chartering a plane ride to get the 'I was there ' photos and be done with it . This would save me time to explore nearby Patagonia or Bolivia . Having been brought up in Mojave Desert terrain, I will never take a class in 'crampons for dummies' . Sounds insulting I know for a serious business . This journey takes time and since I'm this far already from home I want to see more , perhaps enjoy Ayahuasco at an appropriate altitude , Continuar hacia adelante y hacia arriba.

Depending on where you live you may be teached there is America as a whole continent containing North and South America, so it's not exactly wrong to think that

@@Blond0SonicI don’t count them as the same myself but I can see why some countries do. Now I’m not sure which countries do & don’t count the Americas as the same & I don’t know why people get so defensive about it when they’re counted as separate.
