Wow that is amazing!!! I've got a cute lil postal decor like box to hang on my porch and I'm wondering if I can mix white paint into wax and paint on the very raised areas on front of box and would I wipe on wipe off??

I've been wondering how to tint clear wax. Thank you! It turned out super nice. I've passed up peeling veneer, and now I know I can work with them. I have never seen scalloped dovetails like that before. Thank you for all the teachings. Big hug.

P. Carr can I use any paint fir clear wax or a specific one ?
@JamiRayVintage5 жыл бұрын
I would use a water based chalk paint. Latex and acrylic can mess with the wax. This is what we use to tint waxes. jamirayvintage.com/collections/diy-paint-and-finishes

Turned out perfectly! Love the marble. It's what I have for my kitchen counters.

How do you clean in all the little cracks? Or is it sealed?
@vintageglitter24696 жыл бұрын
It's new and doesn't have any cracks. It's honed and sealed. It's been a year and no stains or problems. Love it. The kitchen guy tried to talk me out of it, but I kept going back to it when we were trying to choose the counter tops.

Jami Ray Vintage you are welcome, I love antiques, my husband bought a table many years ago in a second hand store in N.Y. simply because he liked the legs, it had about 11 coats of paint on it and the inside of drawers were painted in cheap silver paint used for radiators. We decided to strip it and it is amazing, it is all in marquetry and all original hardware, we actually saw a table just like it in a very high end store when we worked at a design firm in the village in NY , it was an amazing find.

Hello! I am wondering if it matters what kind of paint one mixes in to the wax. Does it have to be chalk paint?
@JamiRayVintage4 жыл бұрын
Great question! I’ve also used milk paint. I avoid latex and oil based paints because they typically don’t mix well with the wax.

I'm in the process of refinishing our dining room furniture. I want a similar effect to this, but I'm wondering if it will work since I've already stripped down and sanded all the pieces? How do I get the bare wood to show through against the white paint better and darker.
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
If you’re already down to bare wood I would stain it the color you want to show through. I carry a product called Dark and Decrepit that works like a stain/glaze/ sealer all in one. It’s also water based so it plays well with paints and is good safe. jamirayvintage.com/products/dark-decrepit-diy-paint

Whats the difference between the wax that you metion?
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
The other wax I mentioned is another brand I carry that can be mixed with paint to tint it. The major difference is that it comes white instead of clear.
@rosemaryflee Жыл бұрын
@Jami Ray Vintage What is the name of that wax? Are the waxes oil or latex based? Can you make metallic waxes using these two brands of wax? Would luv a tutorial on how to make metallic waxes!

Beautiful 😍 Question. Does the final color of the piece appear to be gray? Or is the wax still translucent and show the white underneath with a gray sheen? I’m considering this method for a dresser I’m working on but wonder if it’s easier to paint and wax as normal, or try this and hopefully have a more unique look. Thanks for all your videos! I’ve learned tons from you and Zeb!
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
This one just had hints of gray because I went so light. If you want more of the color to stay let the colored way dry a bit, then go back over with clear wax.

He said that 4 great neighborhoods are having garage sales on Sat so any solid wood cheap piece he's bringing it home and wants to try this out with all the milk paint colors I got from your store! he got his favorite dinner as a reward and incentive to load up his truck!
