How to compression test and change spark plugs on your Evo 8

It's been a really fun process modifying the Evo and tuning it so far. As we approach the next stage (cams + e85), I wanted to refresh the Spark Plugs as well as do a Compression Test to make sure everything's good to go. We'll be using NGK BPR8ES plugs gapped to .024".

🙌Thanks man! That is a really hard question - they are both really fun cars in their own ways. S4 is an absolute torque monster, pulls really hard. Evo always feels like you're about to eat something, raw + nimble. I think overall I'd say Evo though just because it's a lot easier to work on. Can't go wrong with either.

Great video. Here in UK I have slight blue / grey smoke when I rev. Not burning oil & drives really well. Got compression test & was 180,165,165,180. A bore scope found some oil on pistons 1 & 4 (the high number ones) & concluded these were high due to the oil acting as extra sealing. Also checked turbo with no oil in pipe or shaft play, so we concluded oil smoke must be valve stem oil seals as compression wasn't low. Does this sound a reasonable conclusion to you? Thanks.

Thanks man! Are you seeing any smoke on startup or during decel (high vacuum)? It sounds like you've do some good diagnostic work though - the conclusion makes sense to me.
