It is not possible to connect RCA directly to the mixer. Did you use a converter towards Jack 6.3 ?

If your TV has RCA or a headphone jack, you can use those directly into the mixer. The converter is only needed for TV’s that only have digital output.

i have been watching video to connect my yamaha mg10xu to my yamaha rx a770 so i can use youtube for karaoke party. your instructions are very clear and the closest to answer my queries. thank you. i have a wireless mic as well. my current set up is that my audio is connected to audio 1 of my amplifier via toslink coming from my one connect hub provided by samsung for my smart tv. now i want to dedicate my karaoke audio to audio 2 via audio coaxial (and leave that toslink to work on audio 1) which i think is easier to do since i cant have audio to work or communicate with my mixer. the youtube can be heard but it doesn’t seem to communicate with my audio mixer because the sound is on audio 1 via toslink thus my only option is to get a converter from toslink to coaxial. is this doable? or is it just the same if i have the converter or toslink splitter to work on audio 1 instead? This mixer is not powered, so you need either a receiver/amplifier with passive speakers or active speakers with a built in amplifier. Some mixers are powered and have their own built in amplifier, this one does not.

The digital converter in the description above has both coaxial and optical inputs. You can use one from the TV to a mixer channel (digital to analog) and one from the mixer's output to the sound bar (analog to digital). Your TV will need to be a smart TV or have a Roku/Firestick/Apple TV or such connected directly into it if you plan to use YT for the karaoke music. Hope that helps.

You can connect the microphone to the mixer using the smaller 1/4” ports, the converter is only needed if your TV does not have RCA connectors or a headphone jack to connect directly to the mixer. It the TV only has digital sound out, you need a converter. Also it has to be a smart TV or have the YT App connected directly to the TV for it to work. It can not be connected directly to the receiver.

Hello Tony, I have a question about recording a karaoke song from my tv to a Tascam Model 12 Mixer(which I have not bought yet). My intention is that I can record onto a SD Card, then download the SD Card with the recorded song on it to my 2017 iMac desktop to burn a CD. I know that the Tascam Model 12 is a bit "overkill" for my needs, but I cannot find anything else to record a song on a SD Card to transfer to my computer. (My tv is in a different room than my computer, so that is why I do not want to sing Karaoke on my computer, besides I am not planning to use anything like Garage Band or Audacity on my computer. I just want to record straight to the mixer and then transfer the song to my computer to burn a CD. Any thoughts?

Sometimes it’s not possible depending on your receiver. I usually just connect the TV HDMI directly to the computer for video and connect the computer headphone out to the mixer. Then use the receiver’s analog channel that the mixer is connected to for sound. In other words, bypass the receiver for video and use it only for sound.

The only connection I have from the TV to the receiver is hdmi (Arc). I run my karaoke (karafun) out of my laptop which is also connected to the receiver via hdmi so I can use the TV as a bigger screen for the karaoke lyrics. I actually have a similar setup on another system. Use the HDMI for the video to the TV and in the SOUND settings on your laptop set it to speakers instead of HDMI, then use the laptop’s headphone jack with an Aux to dual 1/4” cable to connect it to the mixer.

A wireless system and a sound bar is probably the easiest way. Connect the TV to the wireless mixer and the wireless mixer to the sound bar.

It works the same way. The digital adapter is only needed for TV’s that do not have an analog audio out such as a headphone or stereo jack out. My TV only has digital out. On TV’s with analog output you can just connect directly into one of the mixer channels.

@@reezsingh8270 if you had a 7.1 I would recommend not using a mixer and actually hooking everything up with digital cables and setting it up properly if you connect things to your mixer and then to your surround sound your surround sound will be left to use analog methods to decode surround sound and therefore will get things like Dolby pro logic and older DTS formats but will not receive the digital surround sound that you're looking for

I have heard that connecting a mic to a receiver and then speakers can ruin your speakers. Home theater speakers are design for high fidelity at low volume, and Karaoke/PA speakers are designed for loud volume with a compromise in fidelity. Because of this, the sound spikes (especially if you drop the mic) can damage your home theater speakers.

As long as you use it indoors at home you don’t need to (and should not) have the volume up. If you are going to use it outdoors or a club and need it to be really loud then you will need a PA system.

Hi Tony, can u provide your email address to me as I have some pictures of my equipment to show u. My cables connections to my audio-video receiver, tv and mic mixer seems to have problem. I can hear the sound from my mic from the speakers but not audio from the tv. Similarly, I can hear audio from the tv but not from the mic. Thanks a lot.

The TV does not connect directly to the mixer. It connects to the converter and the converter connects to a channel on the mixer as shown in the video. This is only if you don’t have RCA or headphone jacks on your TV. If you do then it is a simple matter of connecting it directly to any of the channels on the mixer. Check out my playlist for other how to videos since most of the questions asked here are already answered on other videos I’ve made.
