Literally the only video I could find that actually helped. Any idea how this would work through microkorg xl+? Would I still need a line in/out if I am using USB midi?

Glad it helped, I haven't used the XL but I'm pretty sure the USB midi will only send midi information and not raw audio, so you'll only need the line out's(L&R) of your XL going to your audio interface or mixer.

Anytime glad it helped, it should be the same setup since FL only has that one Microkorg preset on the midi out. I'm hoping Imageline will fix the sound banks so they actually match the right sounds one day but as of now its just me asking them to fix it in the forums lol.

Good video, how to you record with the arpeggiator affect? I can get the sound to come out with the button on while playing back what's recorded. Not sure how to save the file with the effect in effect.

Thanks, yes you can record the Arpeggios you just need to record the midi first then raw audio with a separate audio track then delete the midi data after you record.

Stupid Question coming in... I'm New So currently I have my Synth hooked up to my Focusrite 2i2 via two Aux cables. Can I record the sounds from my synth into Fl with that? or Do I also need the midi cables hooked up? I have Korg Opsix. If I do need midi cables, Do I plug my the Aux cables in the Line1 and 2 ports on the back and the midi cables in the front? ( currently i have the aux jacks plugged into the ports on the front of my focusrite) I might be wrong in assuming but arent the midi cables just so i can use my synth as a controller for plug ins in FL? because i just want to record the sounds that are coming from my synth into FL. sorry if im not clear in my questions and thanks in advance for helping out

Not a stupid question at all for a beginner. In a nutshell yes you need 2 midi cables to create midi data in FL, without them you can't move around or quantize your notes. So basically right now you can only record live audio with 2 aux cables which is doable to record a few tracks but its gonna be a pain not being able to fix your mistakes or adding in notes and layering chords ect.

@@tsuj-music6612 hey so I got my synth hooked up via a USB directly into my PC. I can hear the sounds of my synth in FL. What's weird is when I hit record and play in FL, Its telling my synth to play the demo of whatever preset I'm on and it records it's midi 😅 and the knob on my synth to change presets is changing channels in FL studio. Like there's too much communication going on lol. It's confusing the hell out of me. I just want to record sounds from my synth and also record midi so I can edit the arrangements I play. not sure what to do from here. Sorry if I'm not making sense, but I really would appreciate some help!!

@@badmana5768 Ya the midis only needed on the microkorg because there's no USB port. So you don't need midi cables if you have a USB port available, also this video is specifically for the microkorg. I would look up how to connect your Opsix to FL studio thru USB.

yes for the sound of the keyboard to come through but for the midi functions you don’t .

i've got a scarlett 2i2 but it doesn't have midi ports. could i somehow use the mic inputs instead?

Well for live audio yes you could use it but no midi data will be created, therefore no quantization or no actual note to move around inside FLs piano mode but if you don't need those feature's then its totally fine

Hello, your video is great it helped me more then anything with this but I still have one issue. Im trying the demo version on fl and everything works like in video except when I am on Insert 1 I have a sound from my regular mic and not the korg even thou I can manipulate korg throu fl studio, and I think its just a small mistake on my behalf but I dont really know how to fix it without ruining the rest. I would be really greatful if someone could help me out, Im new to synths and I really need help with this one.

So when you scroll thru the sounds on the microkorg presets on the midi out in FL its not changing the sound banks? you should see the program numbers LED lights moving as you scroll thru the sounds with the mictokorg preset on the midi out.

Make sure all your track number on the Mido out are matching the number you had set in the audio preferences , if that doesn't work I'd say just start from scratch and make sure you didn't miss any steps cause if you have a audio interface with a midi in and out this method will definitely work. Lmk how it works out?

Am I able to do sound design in depth on this synth? You mentioned not being able to use the knobs and buttons on the korg

Yes you can 100% design sound, I was talking about the actual knobs on the MK that you can't use which are only 1/cutoff 2/reso.. the others you can you use but Id recomend to do everything inside FLs midi out MK preset for tweaking stuff and sound desigin ect.

Probably an obvious answer, but just wanna be sure; I have my 1/4” TSR cables connected properly, but I only have _one_ MIDI In/Out cable connected as I only own one. I assume this is why I get no sound at all even after setting up the midi out plugin in FL? The two MIDI In/Out cables are absolutely necessary for this to work and you can’t just get by with only one?

Yes you need the 2 midi cables but even without them you should still be getting a raw audio signal from the 2 trs cables going into your interface/mixer, it just wont write any midi data.

That's usually from plugging in the MK into a power strip instead of a power conditioner.
