You can plug in any aux cord in the antenna insert & it will work but not good as the car antenna but it works for me

I did this but I added a switch to the green and one of the black wires. Then I cut a hole in the metal case for the switch. The PSU that I used has a standby light when the switch is off. When I want to use the radio I just flip on the switch. I had to tie both power wires together because the radio wouldnt turn on at all with only one power wire or the other connected, only both.

i could do up a old pc psu from what i have in storage but i went out bought a real power supply a 28amp from mfj with 13.8volt 28amp, 2 13.8volt 7amp connections i use the two 7amp connections for the car stereo and 40watt eq. 28amp connection to the amateur radio,
