Peyton I was able to download the app and connect but it only allows me to take pics. When I hit record it says the app does not support this function. I have the a6000. Would you know why it’s not allowing me to record? TY

Hello there. I just bought this camera and I managed to connect it successfully to my phone. However, on my Android phone, I have no option on PlayMemories for video recording, shutter speed etc. I got only option for shooting the picture, a Menu button, timer, playback and zoom. Nothing else. Anyone with the same issue?

Thanks for the video. I tried this with an A7S II and after turning off Bluetooth the live view was a bit smoother. How has your experience been with live view for video with the 6300?

Well ive got the 6500 and it has the touch focus capability. Unfortunately the app does not allow you to utilize this :/ also when the app is connected it cancels out the touch screen making this virtually useless for 6500 users. Have you found a work around?

my experience with Remote App and a6500 is that with external mic the audio is getting very noisy. Without the app Im setting mic level much lower that default, but I guess with the app it is set on default level and can not be changed

I just bough a used sony a6300 , and the Panasonic camera app for GH5 G80 ect would take like 60 seconds......to download, no signing up , wifi link your phone to camera, then run the app...done! This sony process looks like a way to throw sony marketing ads at you 😑. Do you know if there is a 3rd party app?

The lag is because the app + phone + wifi/bluetooth connection + camera all trying to talk to each other, it's way too slow. It doesn't matter if it's a new phone. I have a new galaxy, and it's EXTREMELY laggy. I would MUCH prefer a direct connection to the video output rather than going over wifi and sony's app.

When connected via WiFi to an iPhone, does the GPS location metadata from the phone get tagged to the pictures as they are taken?

I don’t believe so. I’m not 100% sure, but I believe the iPhone only acts as a viewfinder/controller for the camera, and nothing more.

As far as i know most Sony cameras with built in Wifi is able to do that even their point & shot or action cam. If you don't really need hot shoe and EVF i think Sony a5100 can be a better camera for you. It's pretty much Sony a6000 without EVF and hot shoe but you get "selfie" touchscreen (with very limited functionality you can only use it for touch to focus and capture if i'm not mistaken).

Lol you can monitor your audio in the a6300. Just look through the settings/change the display and you can see the audio levels.

With some models (including the a6000), you cannot record video while in the app.

My A6000 doesn't have "Smart Remote Control, it has "Remote Control Embedded" and will absolutely NOT find my iPhone 7 under any circumstances. I tried ALL AFTERNOON, PASSWORDS TRY-AGAIN, TRY AGAIN... and I'm ready to start THROWING THINGS.....(but I won't) I'm trying to avoid the hassles of using WIRED DOWNLOADS. I'm just going to forget it!
