Thank you! You saved the day. I donated an entertainment unit. The stereo and speakers were housed in it. Well...the loaders undid the speakers to get everything out. Well...what do I know? At first I thought they actually cut the wires to get everything apart! I thought they ruined my speakers and was getting ready to donate all that as well. Then I found your video. Great video. One suggestion...clarify that even though the red and black wires are wrapped you have to separare them at the end to put one in the red port and the other in the black one. I was confusing myself which one of 4 to use. Finally figured it out! Duh. Thanks a lot...and also for getting right to the point, avoiding more frustration. Now I can rock out!!

Very helpful! Thank you! The speaker wires work well. But connecting to amplifier is more complicated as access to the post is limited. My guage is a 12 so wrapping does not work. So I put it in as best I could and twisted rg cap down. Seems archaic! My amplifier is old, but good. Can I replace this amplifier connection? One last question, thanks in advance, so I have double speaker connections. I assume the top wires go to A on th amp and the bottom speaker wires go to B. Seems obvious, but wanted to check. Thanks so much! As others have said you explained everything extremely well! Heck, maybe you have another video that explains the (older) amp wire connections? ❤

I found you have uninsulated way too much wire at 1:39 and 2:42. Not only does it look cosmetically inferior but it also improves the risk of short circuiting. 2:31 When you are filming your hands and fingers this close, it is also recommended to get a manicure or at the least get your nails clipped and your cuticles fixed. Maybe this will stop you from biting your nails in the future? :)

What happens if I remove the bridge plates but only connect speaker wires to 1 pair of binding post?
@FluanceSpeakers6 жыл бұрын
Great question! If you remove the bridge plates and only connect to one set of terminals, you will only hear the high (top posts) or low(bottom post) frequencies. Removal of the bridge plates is intended for bi-amping or bi-wiring where you have separate speaker wires connected to the top and bottom binding posts so the high end and low end drivers are powered separately.
@Zero88805 жыл бұрын
@@FluanceSpeakers If I'm living in an apartment and want to lower the bass at night, will removing the bridge plates and connecting only the binding posts lower the amount of bass produced?
@antongalazyuk31174 жыл бұрын
@@Zero8880 You will lose all lows and mids really. It would just be random high pitched squeaks coming out of your speakers. Right way to do it is just create an EQ on your receiver where you turn bass way down. Some streaming devices and AVRs have a night mode which flattens the highs and lows so you hear mostly just the mid range vocals.
@Zero88804 жыл бұрын
Anton Galazyuk Oh yeah, I tried it and wasn’t liking what I heard. I ended up fixing the problem by tricking my receiver. I have the system setup with no subwoofer and had it inputed that way, so the receiver was pushing all the base to the front towers. So I just went into the settings and told the system that I was using a Subwoofer, and then the amount of bass going through the fronts drastically decreased.

If you have speakers that are biwireable but you only have one set of speaker wires and have the bridge plate in place. My question is if it is better to connect the one set of speaker wires to the low-frequency or high-frequency posts? I have always connected to the low-frequency post given that bass response requires more power than treble, so, my thinking is any reduction in signal strength going over the bridge plate should have less of an effect on the treble than on the bass response. I am curious to know if you all agree or have a different perspective that i may not be considering.

Less than 50 feet, 18 AWG or heavier is fine. Don’t use the thinner stuff unless your speakers are directly beside your amplifier. Heavier speaker wire is great at lightening your wallet! In most cases you don’t need heavier wire unless you are wiring your home and have runs longer than 50 feet.

How to connect JBL Studio 530 bookshelf speakers to HarmonKardon avr25 receiver? I'm a senior and know nothing about this - should I buy 12 gauge copper wire and monster banana plugs? (Is this general copper wire used for everything or is it "special" wire for speakers? From your video I'll remove the golden bar connecting the two sets of "plug" holes since I'm only connecting one amplifier, right?? And are "monster" banana plugs the same as just banana plugs? Would Home Depot have them? I don't know enough to know what else to ask - but THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!! I just don't want to blow up anything - or me :( Jean
@FluanceSpeakers5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jean! We recommend using speaker wire specifically, as they usually come in generous lengths, are labelled or coloured for positive/negative and do not have any internal coatings on the copper wire inside for a solid connection. If you are using one amplifier, make sure you leave the bridge pins or places on. These connect the binding posts to each other so you get power to both the high range and low range drivers. Removing them would only give you one or the other. You can also get banana plugs anywhere that sells audio hardware Monster is simply a brand and there are many out there. you should know that a double terminal block is almost rubbish on a speaker, because the bi-wiring does not bring any improvement or any difference, only the bill will go up, .. the bi amping is much more interesting for him , it allows to associate an integrated and a power amplifier if possible of the same brand and imperatively of the same class, for example: an Arcam diva A85 with an Arcam P85 power amplifier, the P85 will amplify the bass as well as a part of the mids, and the A85 will amplify the tweeter and the other part of the mids, .. in this case: there is a real and real improvement ......

TInning is a no no....according to my speaker manual..
@ronniefranks43515 жыл бұрын
Prince Fluffy If you don’t use a connector or tin the wire it will corrode rather quickly since the copper is exposed to air. While the bare wire provides the purest connection, that’s only valid until the wire corrodes. Then, you must cut the wire to uncover fresh copper. A tinned wire won’t corrode and doesn’t require you to keep fiddling with the wire. Additionally, a tinned wire makes it easier to make a connection.
