alex, i right away tried the drill with a spatula while i was making blueberry pancakes and my wife said what the heck are you working on now so i said take a guess, golf she says. she doesn't like that golf takes up a lot of my time and thought but she lives with it. later on i grabbed the badminton racket out of the closet that i keep there to ward off the bats we get sometimes in the house. now i went outside in the yard with a bit of snow on the ground and hit balls off my mat using this action and it worked great. thnx for the info it really helped my impact and ball flight.

Need this! On the simulator, my path is 1-2 degrees in or out, not bad :), but my face to path is usually 15-22 degrees open, so straight push to the right. Have to aim at the left side 200 yards away for my target to have any hope of hitting the fairway. Funny but this is only with the driver, other clubs are quite a bit straighter.

Thanks Alex, great explanation of a concept I’ve just learned about in last year or so after 30 years of 7 hcp golf and trying to “time” my hands. Is it fair to say that at age 67, less flexibility (hard to get into side bend position at impact) will mean I do have to roll my forearms a little more? Your impact position is beautiful and I’d love the consistency but is it less possible as we get older? I am btw straighter (9 fairways, 11 greens, 5 hcp) and better for learning and at least trying to get into this position, just really hard compared to my 40 year old son who does it easily and plays to scratch

Others call this the “twist away” to ensure the back of the left hand/club face point more down at the first check point on the back swing. Been immensely helpful to my game. Just do this on a 3/4 swing with a mid iron to start. Video is great but I think it over complicates the first step to get a square club face, fail this and everything else is a mute point.

Hello 👋 Alex, good 🏌️♂️stuff here! Is this racquet drill good for both the Driver and Irons or just for the Driver only? Also, is it’s just me that sees this, or can this drill help with an Over the Top move as well with the motion it’s promoting for the downswing? I’m thinking 🤔 it can.
@AlexElliottGolf3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it can! I use this for driver but i also use this for irons
@Camzeyy2 жыл бұрын
I have a lot of forward shaft lean at impact, and I’m assuming I get the face exactly back to where it started, but that forward shaft lean keeps the face open. It also makes sense why Dustin Johnson has an extremely closed club face throughout his entire swing and he also has a ton of forward shaft lean at impact. I guess they cancel each other out, but the more forward shaft lean the more you need to close the club face. Solid video I liked it a lot and it was easy to understand

What is the feel you have with the upper portion and elbow of your left arm with this swing? Do you have the "hold the headcover in your left armpit" feel? Or does your left arm separate some from your body?
@liquidmocofilmsllc4915 Жыл бұрын
So are you saying there is no “roll over/release” with the driver? If you watch Rory hit driver, he supinates tremendously at impact which imo gives him an extra 3-5 mph of clubhead speed. I am 100% positive that screwing the club face at impact gives you more distance than just using a square to target flexion/extension release. In my swing it makes about 20 yard distance gain when I roll over release the club. So my question and problem is how the heck do you rollover your hands with driver without shutting down the club face too much. This is what K have been struggling with and nobody seems to give the right advice. Sure I can keep my swing as is but I really want the extra 20 yards that I know is there from rolling the wrists into impact without a low hook. Also this instructor mentions nothing about lag in the driver swing which makes a world of difference in timing. Anyhow, that’s my rant. If anybody knows what I am talking about please let me know if you have any ideas on how to fix this. I feel like my drive clubface has to be adjusted to very open position for it to square up at impact when rolling the wrists. My irons are fine because the strike is down so the club face is square at impact and then “screws” into the ground at the low point past the ball. But with driver this means I would have to “screw in” as the club is on it way up into the ball (a later release then with irons) is that correct?
