Thanks my friends. I have been cooking this regularly since a trip to Normandy in 2015, where we ate it in a small seaside bistro. I love it 😋

Pork in apples and hard cider? Oh heck yeah, Pete! Beautiful container of authentic British Cream....lovely! Yes a touch of sage brings out the flavor of pork. Love your oil pot. I need one of those. Turkey leg? Love turkey over here, interesting variation. That cloudy cider looked good; I'd like a taste! Good hint on stabilizing the sauce so it won't split....thank you. What a fabulously tasty plate, Pete. This is a gorgeous recipe I'd like to try with turkey; Mrs Rivet would love it!

I just replace the pork with turkey thigh meat Rivet. It's not exactly the same but it is just as good, especially if you like turkey meat. I love it! I think I searched on 'stainless steel oil dispenser' when I found it.

Pork, apple and sage are such classic ingredients. People might have a go at British food but nobody is better than us when choosing a sauce or condiment to accompany meat. Beef-horseradish; Lamb-mint; Pork-apple. Cider is an obvious bedfellow with pork (it's apple) but it works really well with a number of slow pot dishes including chicken and turkey as you point out. Lamb too in some dishes. Cider runs from bone dry to very sweet and that will effect the flavour. I think a dish like this should not be sweeter than medium but it depends how sweet you like it. Cheers Pete. WT

Thanks Toro! I have no sweet tooth to speak of so I tend to select dry cider and the more sour varieties of apple. I agree with your comment on sweetness 😋

Pete! I started a new job a couple months ago and I've not been on the YT very much! I've missed you and this sure looks good! Can't wait to watch this, make my grocery list, and have a scrumptious dinner later. Cheers, Pete! Sending love from Phoenix, Arizona, USA (where it's going to be 99F/37.2C today!)

Hi Pete you are correct in saying that pork 🥩 and apples 🍏 are a great pairing. I have found that using the granny smith/green 🍏 works best as the acidity/tartness helps to enhance the flavour of the 🥩 And yes you have my approval of the spuds 🥔 😂 😂 Great recipe.

I'm having to back off pork a bit these days because of my gout but I don't care with a classic like this- it's always worth risking it! This would be gorgeous with rabbit as well, with a little bit of Dijon popped in. And maybe a few morels if you're feeling flush 😋
@LazyCookPete

Turkey thigh meat is a great substitute in pork dishes like this. I do like rabbit but in all my life and hundreds of forays I have never been lucky enough to find morels, and I certainly can't afford to buy them 😊

Pork and apple is such a classic combo. Got to have apple sauce with my roast pork. Would the alcohol cook off in this?
@LazyCookPete
@LazyCookPete Жыл бұрын
Me too Daz. Yes alcohol becomes a gas at 74C so very little if any would be left after cooking this dish.
