Hi, I made your thai beef salad today and it was very tasty. Even better, i made the best ever glutinous rice following your microwave method. I did modified a little, I soaked it about 3 hrs and microwave for 3.5mins and it was superbly done. Thanks for the video

You’re welcome! Mind you tho, different source of glutinous rice may require a slightly different timing for soaking and being cooked in the microwave. But overall, this method will be one of the more convenient ones 😊 Hope you’ll enjoy your meal!

I like your narration style. It's unique and another welcome voice in cooking videos. Since you don't seem biased against cooking rice outside of a bamoo steamer, I ask you for your opinion about bamboo cookers. Do they somehow allow you to cook the rice any better than you can achieve with the bamboo? My take is that society always faces the temptation to do things more well by finding harder ways and spending more money. Nearly all of the backwards tend to be silly. My suspicion is that bamboo cookers were used over history because they were *very* cheap compared to a metal pot. In the really old days, metal was practically precious! Now, the retro folks come up with excuses to do things the old way. Few people or groups (like America's Test Kitchen) actually bother to figure out if their backward ways are provably better. But, I think most retro people don't want to. They just want to be contrarian, to look/feel more exclusive, or to sell something. What do you think of real bamboo way?
@ThaiGirlintheKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bruzote! My opinion is…people have been using bamboo steamer since back then because it was more common to get than the metal pots/steamers. And my thought is, if it’s easier to use some kitchen equipments than the others and produces the same results then ‘why not’ :) Which..”easier/more difficult” to each people is also different. Personally, it’s more difficult and more expensive for me to hunt down a bamboo steamer. To me, it’s more important to know what type of sticky rice we’re working with to accomplish the result we want. Like..Older sticky rice should be soaked in water overnight, while the new sticky rice can be soaked in water for a few hours. How long we steam, how well we wash off the starch, etc. As long as we’re happy with the result 😊

Looks great! If you soaked rice overnight to have ready in the morning do you think the cooking time would be the same?
@ThaiGirlintheKitchen3 жыл бұрын
Yes it will take about the same time cooking. But normally the cooking time can be a little different depending on the brand and breed of sticky rice. Soaking longer will help soften the rice though. Better texture 😊
