How to: Copic Marker Hair Tutorial [Anime/Manga style]

Hi! I've been requested to do copic marker tutorials (you can use any marker) for awhile! So here's a marker anime/manga style hair tutorial on how I color!
Materials used: Copic Ciao Markers, Copic Sketch marker, Strathmore 400 mixed media, Sakura Microns, Sakura Gelly Roll in white

Bittersweetnitemare. If you were using cool colours for the base would you still be able to use warm colours as the "pizzaz" colours???🤔🙄😁

I mean, why not? 😁 Generally, you want to avoid that if you're directly blending unlike colors since that can cause a muddy look, but you can always use a bridge color like I did in this tutorial. I blended the blue (cool) and the pink (warm) using the purple (cool AND a bit warm) :D! However, if you're blending a brown and blue or a blue and orange, that's another case and will most likely give you a muddier look. It depends on how far apart the colors are on the color wheel 🤔 Grays work well with all pizazz colors (especially cool grays)! Warm grays might be a tad bit too warm for cool colors though! General rule of thumb, if they look kinda gross together, don't do it hahah

Greens and blues have different shade values, as in if you made it black and white one would be darker than the other.

Lovely tutorial.I love how much your style has changed over the years. I have one question though.How long do you usually wait for the ink to dry from your line art before you start coloring?Every time i think my ink is dry,it either fades when I erase my pencil sketch,or it smudges when I put down markers.How do you avoid that?

I would say a few seconds or maybe a minute or so, if it's a quick drying ink. What kind of liner are you using?

I actually give it a good hour+ or so to be safe, especially if I have any thick lines. I also generally try to avoid coloring directly over the lines! Despite saying it's quick drying and smudge proof, I still stay on the side of caution haha. As for fading after erasing, ink will always do that in some way, so emphasis on letting it dry at least an hour

Starfall Cat you could try to find some alcohol based markers, but they’re not as good quality as these copic markers. Copics are really expensive and I don’t think they sell them in store. I may be wrong tho

Alcohol markers are best for shading because water based markers will eat up the paper. There's a lot of alts to copics, but I bought copics because of their reputation. They work great for me.
