Dangs counted up that the War Bonds got about 30K and then even before factoring in repair costs, the Urban Blight ended up reducing the army's value by about 30K. Also something that probably makes a power like War Bonds even less useful is because it encourages the player to go out of position and take a lot of engagements, it's not the same as other powers where you just hit the button and get a free benefit.
@Mangs13372 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's complete trash. A superpower that doesn't even give you firepower or movement, but just a bit of extra cash is so worthless. Even if War Bonds gave 100% money it would still be nichè at best.

Probably because I was extra dumb and played Grit with no tanks. That does not work on AWBW like it might in War Room, both because you’re fighting real people and because AWBW official maps use a way different design philosophy. Again, I was probably extra dumb in my case, but that just meant I saw the future that will come from people learning to counter lead indirect spam, where trying that spam is just asking to die.
@TheMrAmras2 жыл бұрын
Out of curiosity, I did the tracking of all 3 rockets and the artillery for all the game. Day 6 : build the first rocket and the artillery in strong side. Day 12 : in strong side, the rocket shoot a infantry on a city who destroy the artillery the round before, reducing to 8 to 1, so 800 funds. Day 13 : while super power, in weak side, the rocket shoot a infantry caping the city in the highly contested arena (but couldn't shoot anywhere else), reducing 10 to 3, gaining 350 funds, so let's add this up to 1050 funds impact by this attack. Cost of all indirects : 51 000 invested for an impact of 1850 funds in the game. Well sure, we can't really measure the impact of zoning, because you did adapt to his spam, so it is worth something in my book. But you did adapt, his rockets were useless because endangered or just out of position, so they never fire. At some point I was like "shoot with your goddamn rockets, even though it's gonna die next turn, at least they are gonna do something"
@isenokami78102 жыл бұрын
In the short time I was on AWBW, I did indeed try high funds. Granted, it was by accident: screwed up the global league filter, was trying to only have normal matches and ended up with everything except normal matches. That said, absolutely enjoyed high funds, really love having the economy to get some of the better units out consistently. Certainly a problem I deal with in the games themselves. And definitely helpful when I wanna indirect spam myself: I don’t like using artillery much despite respecting the range, but I love rockets. Oddly, I don’t really see high funds as chaos, as you described it. A fast track to late game units, but that can open up more room for skill. Not to mention keep a losing player from simply not having the economy to even fight back anymore. Case in point, one of the only matches I won on the site, a mirror Hawke match that happened to be high funds. Lots of high value units, but the result was anything but chaos. Instead, it was just a match worthy of Hawke, a respectable display of power on both sides. I haven’t had the best time on AWBW, but I am still proud of that one match; would’ve been my favorite even had I lost, we were just that evenly matched in the best way.

late game is always a shitshow I feel, the way you maneuver in early-mid game is where the skill is in this game
@isenokami78102 жыл бұрын
@@Epig420 On one hand, I disagree, late game units can make proper positioning far more crucial; even if you disagree there, I do also like high funds, albeit to a lesser extent, for being more forgiving in terms of how badly an income disadvantage can screw you. The defense isn’t left with only enough to build tanks against neotanks as often, yet the income advantage is still key. On the other hand, if you think early hand positioning is where the true strategy is…maybe that’s why I lost, like, 9 out of 10 games.

Would the indirects have been more effective if they were directed more towards the center of the map rather than the sides? I noticed that was the main way you were able to play around them, going from one side of the map to the other to take advantage of their slow speed. If the center was focused on would that have allowed the indirects to hold their ground better and limit front switching, or would it still have been easy to skirt around them?
@monsterchief1172 жыл бұрын
Problem is they take forever to get there (they never had a chance to go in the center this whole match) and you can easily give up the sides by doing that.
@squiddler77312 жыл бұрын
@@monsterchief117 Could they have had a better chance if the indirects all came from the center base? For all the rockets that were used in this match, they never built any there where it would've have the best chance at controlling the center (I'm assuming cause the terrain for getting them out isn't great compared to the side-bases).
@monsterchief1172 жыл бұрын
@@squiddler7731 It's just not a good idea. The center has 2 contested properties but the sides have like 6 contested properties + the HQ. Indirects just suck in HF generally. I love playing max/jess and seeing indirect spam cuz my recons, tanks, copters will have a field day. I think another issue with War Bonds is that it doesn't really *do* anything to directly help you in fighting. Like, ok, let's say you pop War Bonds, then you end up doing a few bold infantry vs infantry skirmishes, you don't really lose much but you also don't really gain anything noteworthy from War Bonds. Let's think about the opposite scenario, you pop War Bonds and then you make a huge attack on the enemies main forces and end up damaging or destroying a lot of units. Then you will get a lot of money, but you won't really need it because at that point you've already got the upper hand.
