You should! I just some for sale as Christmas trees outside a big box store this week. Northern white-cedars are tough trees - I recommend them.

Thanks! It was nice to hit video #50, the goal I set for myself shortly after starting. I plan to keep going, although I might slow down a bit over winter, we'll see. Northern white-cedars are very common in landscapes and garden centers around here, so they were quite cheap for the amount of development.

Thanks! Yep, that's the plan. I've since styled the third tree (upcoming video). After styling all three and putting them together, I've decided I need to do a forest planting to simulate a grove. I like how all three look together. I'll plant them together this coming spring.

Thank you! At first I was hesitant to do a forest planting. But after styling all three (I style the 3rd tree in an upcoming video), I really want to put them together. It captures that feel of the old growth western redcedar grove near my home really well when I stick them together.

Thanks for the tip. I've seen Nigel Saunders and Mike of Bonsai Boise use glue on their trees. Is there a reason you prefer super glue to cut paste?

@BonsaiNorthwest I only use super glue when branches break and it's still partially connected. It will hold the branch structure together till the tree completely heals itself. It holds so good that it's basically like the branch never broke. I've used it so many time on all kinds of different trees. I even Successfully glued my hornbeam trunk back together after it blew over in a wind storm. It was broken completely in half with half still connected. I glued that bad boy together and rapid it with vet tape but by the end of the growing season I removed the vet tape and the trunk was Sealed up completely with minimal visibility of the break at all. I always keep some handy,,, it's a branch/trunk saver. When it comes to pruning cuts I always use cut paste or putty. Rubber cement has zero healing ability.. it just keeps the cut site from drying out and there by helping the tree heal itself. Good Cut paste has a hormone or something that aids in the healing process.
