I just bought the conversion base and I love it. I just have some lifting around the top edges. I did use the stain resistant top coat with it though because I'm a hairdresser and it helps so much. Is conversion base only meant to be used with conversion top, or can I use another top coat with it? Just trying to figure out why my nails are lifting. Thanks!!
@youngnailsinc2 жыл бұрын
Lifting, especially around the cuticle, generally comes from either not cleaning the cuticle well, getting Protein Bond or your product on the cuticle or not prepping the nail well (we recommend using a medium arbor band to remove the shine).

How do i get an extremely smooth surface when applying chrome?
@mjaydelacruz84963 жыл бұрын
Make sure when you’re applying your non-tack topcoat you’re putting enough on and not just putting it on thin because that will cause a little pits and imperfections on the top of your gel. Also do one at a time. Meaning put your gel on cure 30 seconds chrome and then repeat process on the other nails! 😉😊💅🏻🤍✨🤩

I enjoyed your video, especially since I just bought the YN Slick Pour kit. You had great tips, and ways to increase business is good. But you need to hear, those glittery fun add on items, cost less than a 1$ in most cases. Buying them, storing them, keeping track of them, and skillfully applying them has value. You should be paid extra. But you know, for basically nothing, you are adding customer loyalty on top of extra value when you make things sparkly. No one should be under the impression that they deserve 5$ per sprinkle of glitter, even if it's what the price is. Upselling is great, it's important, but the whole vibe you give off in regards to it, feels kinda sleezy. Today's client is much more educated on nail art, but even if they weren't, people know that all your supplies are a tax write off. Maybe just ease up teaching nail artists to think they are the one doing the favor, when it has always been a 50/50 mutual split. You do really beautiful work, and you rightly so get paid for it, but in the middle is the human interaction that so many are really paying to have. You make a LOT more money when you can make your client feel like they are valuable, and you could lose clients if they feel like it's just a transaction to you. Try throwing in a tiny thing like a free rhinestone or something like it, every appointment. Charge for everything else, but make a point of telling the client- I added 'xyz' to your service, on the house, cause I really enjoy having you as my client...then have them book their next service with you. Things like that is how you make money and have loyal clients.
@mjaydelacruz84962 жыл бұрын
The beautiful thing about our business is we can charge & run it how we would like. That’s one of the reasons I love my job. All my clients are special to me and they all feel like a valued client! The experience, the services they are getting are always consistent, the cleanliness & conversations are special as well. I appreciate you sharing your way you run your business. That’s pretty special as well. As for me, I pay for my education, pay to have endless options available to them. Also know how to use them all. That is a value. I will always pass on the cost. I go to one of my favorites pizza parlors in town. We are there at least every two weeks. We know the owners very well. We never get extras for free. That’s how they make their living. I 100% respect that! It nice sharing each other’s view on business! I appreciate your time & knowledge! 🙏🏻💖 Have a beautiful day!
@bedriddenbeauty65042 жыл бұрын
@@mjaydelacruz8496 I respect what you are saying, and if someone is a true artist, their work speaks for them, and they are booked past walk ins, they can charge what they want. YN is selling products, and they are misleading in their videos, because if the glitter they sell is the same as glitter you can get for nothing on aliexpress, but the difference is just their mark up, you really can't pass that onto a client. And you shouldn't. Polygel for example is expensive, and you get what you pay for. That is understandable. But purely charging more for almond shaped than square for example, is really bad business, because every nail tech from the beginning of time asks what shape and how long, because that is just the service. If you add a little glitter that costs nothing, cause you should know not to over pay, it shouldn't cost more unless it takes longer or really makes a difference in the service. Like an accent nail vs a full hand. But things like stamping should 100% cost more, because it's a plate, special polish, stamper, and real skill. Where you work and your community definitely plays a part in your business like you said, and it's never about taking a hit in your business by giving stuff away, but just doing a tiny thing that wont make a dent, but could keep someone going to you over someone else or doing things at home. Like a shimmer polish might cost a dollar more when you bought it, but it evens out and a client probably won't understand really why they would be charged for something like that. Then you mention you won't charge them extra even though it's an expensive polish, then they feel special. I don't worry about these videos when nail artists who are really experienced watch them, I worry about people just getting into nails, or the ones just getting out of school watching them. I started doing my nails myself because it was really hard to find a tech in my area who not only did do sculpted gels, but could actually do them well. I would pay more for a nail artist who could do a correct set, cause it's rare. Instead there are way more people who take forever to do a set, do them too thick and not shaped well, then try to cover the mistakes with cheap nail art. New artists are not being told in these videos that it's really the skill and the market that would allow them to charge that much for a set. What you spend on a product doesn't necessarily mean you will be able to recoup it. You have to be smart in purchasing, but especially for the market you work in. Upper east side NY, you can buy cheap gold flakes on Amazon or spend a fortune on real ones, and charge an arm and a leg regardless. But if you work in a small blue collar town, it might not be the best idea to invest in sawarsky crystals, when your customers only have a budget for rhinestones. Then you really don't want to pay markups from high end brands because you won't be able to charge 300$ per set. But YN is not trying to educate people with their videos as much as they are doing a really good job selling their products in them, and showing people how to use their products correctly, so people keep buying theirs over another brand. I was a makeup artist for 20+ years, and I was LA skill wise, did private glam in Hawaii for socialites, but when I moved to Oregon, I couldn't charge those prices. I could charge the same and do 5 jobs a year, or lower my price and work all the time. I decided to retire lol.

@@mjaydelacruz8496 I finally tried my YN dip kit, and ironically the glitter one was severely lacking in glitter. It was fun to do, but I thought I could get away with using it just as an overlay, but the directions called for layers, and I followed them having no experience in dip powder. It made me use a good amount of it, but the nails were super bulky. So I e-filed, and it totally filed off in chips, especially around the edges. That's when it dawned on me I was screwed, cause I had completely forgotten dip powder is actually just acrylic, and I was stuck with cement nails. I eventually was able to file and soak it off, but my natural nails were ruined. Had to cut off all the length. Any length I have gotten since chips and peels. I'm using OPI Nail Envy to heal them, YN have anything better to combat dip powder aftermath?
