Just to help David, at 8:20, use the formula of =D12-($D$12/COUNT($E$5:$N$5)). You can drag this across, and even beyond what you have, and if you add additional days in Row 5, or change the ideal trend in D12, the formula will adjust the time used automatically. cheers!

Hi, thank you so much for this tutorial. For the ideal trend I used this formula : =D12-($D$12*10/100) at E12 and then dragged this to N12

Hi David, just Hank you for the video and I have a doubt about how to take the efforts estimation I did using Poker Estimation to Burn-down Chart? I am totally confused because most of the numbers you provided here is one right.

why did you divide ideal trend with 1,2,3 and so on. Would it be same for any chart having different number of estimated days?

David thanks for sharing, I purchased the 52 Templates and the Knowledge Worker's Toolbox, this is great stuff. Nice to have one accurate source for this information. This will help me with my PMP Preparation, exam scheduled on 04/20. Do offer one-on-one training in these areas ? Thanks again for sharing! Cecil

Dear David thank you so much for your great explanation. Under feature 2, you put three days but you didnt actucally spread three days in this row, you spread only two. You typed the third day but it didnt go through. could you please tell me in other worsd what does it mean minus 2 or any number? Kind regards Guilda.
@davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject 2 жыл бұрын
Yes certainly 🙂 the minus numbers will add extra effort (above the estimate). You could also change the estimate and use normal numbers, though 🙂

Great video, Can we add actual performance, please tell
@davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject 3 жыл бұрын
We could, either by adding the forward and backward pass details manually in each cell, or automatically with a formula. The challenge is that our schedule may not follow activities 1, 2, 3 etc - a path may go 1,4,5 for example. My video on critical path calculations is here kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKbMZIyse7tpatE

Apologies a silly question perhaps. At 5:56. Day 2 Aug 11. If one assumes 1 Day effort equates to 8 hours for 1 person ? Does this mean on that day 7 people are required to meet the tasks recorded? 1+2+1+1+1 ? ?

Hello David! I have a question regarding the Backlog ID and User Stories. What actually goes there? I’m trying to do a burn down for a new system transition and have 100 associates
@davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject 3 жыл бұрын
Oh that is an excellent question 🙂 let me know if I haven't understood correctly, but the ID can be anything you choose - a unique identifier like 001, 002 etc. The user stories are the small chunks of work, that together will make up a feature you want to release. In your case, it might be the individual tasks that make up the overall system transition. If 100 associates is too much for one matrix/chart, you could bundle some together, by team or area, for example.

Thanks for this interesting video, I have a question the numbers in the day1 column for example (1 corresponds to a working day?). When we have a number 2, does it mean that we need 2 men working during a day1?
@davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ismail, you are right! The days correspond to working days, and usually there are 10 working days (2 weeks) in a sprint. For the estimates, these are usually estimates on effort required. They can be different per team (whatever the team decides) and could be relative/broad sizings using the Fibonacci sequence (most common, i.e. 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13), or based on hours, or people, or anything else you choose.

Did not get it for my sprints which have 14 days of one of the tasks.
@davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject 3 жыл бұрын
That's a great point to bring up Mrudang. When sprint planning, it's usually preferred to break cards down into smaller bits where possible. But if it's not possible, I reckon we could increase the sprint size in this sheet. Just add the columns you want, and make sure to divide the "Ideal trend" cells by the new number of days (i.e. 14 instead of 10), and multiplying them by 1 through 14 instead of 1 through 10 (i.e. /14*1 to /14*14)
