Hi!! I have a question. At 10:51 you copied the second hill and pressed Cmd+F. That should result in the two elipses being next to each other in the layers pannel but in a split second there, the elements in the layer's pannel shift. The shapes are suddenly not right next to each other.. You can see what I mean in 10:55.. One of the elipses is the one highlighted (light gray) and the other is the one with the cyan square next to it.. On top of that, one of the elipses seems to be inside of a group or something like that now.. when did that happened? Did you arranged them without saying anything to the camera? Did it happened on it's own because of something? This is confusing me a lot. Thanks!

I've watched 5 tutorials on how to do grain effects today and this is definitely the best one, using masks gives you so much flexibility. Thanks Martin!

Toward the end, if you look at the little icon silhouette of the llama in the transparency window, it's instantly recognizable as a llama. Now that's some good design.

Another fantastic tutorial, Martin! Thank you SO much! I really appreciate you stopping from time to time to point out & explain the notations in the layers panel as you work. I find that difficult to discern on my own. Yes, I'm sure there'd be a lot of interest in watching your complete iPad Pro process, as you describe as your "sketching phase", and how you transition into Illustrator & right up to the point where this video begins! Maybe another course, please?

Thank you. I love this and I think you're a great instructor. However, unless I missed it, you didn't explain how to separate/get the newly created textured shading onto the shading layer you created at the outset. A simple drag and drop-of course-just places it above all the rest of the artwork. You showed us how you could turn on and off the shading, but it's not clear how to get it all onto a separate layer and still be masked to the right object parts. Thanks again.

Yes I'd love to see tutorials on sketching! Also, a total basic thing I can't figure out...is there a way to draw more organic looking lines in AI, like when I wanna add little detail lines, I dont want my stroke to be just cut at the ends if you know what I mean? Hard to explain. Anyway, love your videos, looking forward to the next one! Thanks so much!
@YesImaDesigner5 жыл бұрын
I would use custom brushes for more organic looking lines. Probably Art Brushes would work best. I just finished recording another 2-part tutorial on Illustrator brushes, which will come out in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned :)

Nifty technique. Thank you very much for sharing, but just want to ask if you have any tips on controlling the size of these grains. The only factor I can find right now is to adjust the size of your canvas.
