Now I make little promises to myself daily. Calorie cutoff after 5:30pm. Radio Silence from 11pm to 5am nightly. When I make healthy promises to myself & keep them I become stronger, happier & calmer.

Thank you, great topic! And it's all spelled out 2400 years ago in Aristotle's Niconacean Ethics, chapter 10 or so. Eudaimomia ("happiness") is about taking good actions to serve the greater good, & creating your wise habits/ character. Not receiving happy stuff, not having things go your way, being esteemed, having riches, etc. THIS (Aristotle version) was the "pursuit of happiness" the Founding Fathers (usa) meant. Boethius in prison about to die, said it again in The Consolation of Philosophy. Wu Wei is not a unuque way, but actually the universal way, thru time, cross cultural. It's natural law.

As usual, you two are amazing. I try and take a cue from many a spiritual teaching in that I try to be happy without the need to _want_ anything. "Ex-spectation" means to "out-look". Just be happy with what comes. Well or course, it's in the teaching: "effortless effort".
