I'm here because, after some practice, I decided my first crochet project will be a beanie for my 2 yr old, Christa. What a coincidence!

Haha, that is funny! I hope the beanie turns out well ❤️

Thank you for the pattern. I want to make a small adult size hat with a brim, at which round would I add my brim?

Hi, sorry you're having trouble with your hat. I'll try to help you trouble shoot. First it should start as a flat circle while you're increasing (adding 2 sts in one). Then you will just work rounds of stitches without increases and this is where it starts to cup up into a bowl (& eventually the hat shape). If it's still working up flat after you've stopped the increase rounds, first make sure you're not increasing accidentally anywhere. Common places we mistakenly add stitches are at the joins (sometimes that slip stitch can look like a stitch). Count every stitch in every round. If you've double checked these things then you may need to use a smaller hook to tighten up your tension. It's possible your tension is very loose. What size are you making?

I didnt follow it right (my first time double crocheting into the round) plus I'm not very experienced. Anyway, mine looks more like a barret lol.

Oh no! It really is challenging to crochet in the round when you're first learning. Maybe try using a stitch marker for those first and last stitches when joining. I hope you can give it another go!
