I just made my first granny square! Full disclosure, granny looks like she stopped at the pub for a few quick drinks, BUT it is a square. And its overall resemblance to yours is enough that they would recognize each other as cousins, albeit distant cousins. 😅 Thanks, Robin. This was so clearly demonstrated that I can come back for a refresher and be on my granny way!

Hi Robin I have been knitting and crocheting since I was a young girl, I'm now 64. For some reason I have always struggled to master the Granny Square even though I have knitted lace stitches no problem. I recently decided to master Granny squares as I have loads of beautiful wool which would be perfect for crochet blankets. I had to go on medication 4 years ago and lost all my creativity as a result. I've really struggled to get back knitting without much success. I thought crochet might be easier so I searched UTube which came up with a number of tutorials. I would really like to compliment you on your tutorial. The instructions were so clear and structured. I'm now very happily crocheting a big granny square blanket. You have made my day. Thank you 😊.

My dear, sweet mama passed in October. She was my best friend and I miss her so much. I found an Afghan that she had made. It is in pretty good shape except for two squares. I was lucky enough to find some yarn at Wal-Mart this morning that matches. But, I don ‘t know how to crochet so I will need to learn. I do know how to knit so I know that I can do this. I am looking forward to this on a cold winter day in Illinois. Thank you so much for this video. I want to thank you so much for your videos. I have tried teaching myself this art for years, and I found your videos. From your videos I have made my first baby blanket, Alan the snowman and now my first granny square. :)

Just started knitting a week ago, and now I’ve started to crochet! After learning a whole bunch in just a few days I thought I should try the granny square! But after watching countless videos, trying it, and then re trying it. It just didn’t make sense! But I stumbled across your video and……..TA DA, I did it! Thank you for this effortless tutorial! I’m very pleased with myself!!!

I'm sure if you teach quantum physics, many of us including me will learn it in first go. Why did I found you so late?!!! Thank you so much for this great tutorial!!!

i’ve been on/off crocheting since i was around 10 and i have never been able to make a granny square no matter how many videos i’ve seen because they use the magic loop; this is the only tutorial that’s worked for me! i’ve crocheted 5 granny squares today with 2 different hook sizes and i personally think sizing down a hook is better because i was able to get into the holes better and it looks neater to me, but both sizes had awesome results, thank u for this tutorial!!❤

It is 12:13am, and I just finished my very first granny square ever, after needing to pull it out and restart this video about 4 times. We got there in the end, and I appreciate the fact that no matter how many times we repeated the same step, you showed/explained the steps. Very clear, very concise, 10/10, I love my new coaster.

A coaster is a great idea, well done on your first granny square! It definitely gets easier with practice.😃🤗

Robin, I would like to let you know that I have been crocheting for over 40 years. A friend taught me how to crochet granny squares. I never finished it and have been trying to remember how to start because I had four squares finished, but couldn't remember! I had been determined to finish my project so I started up again. I watched two previous videos that were no help at all. I came upon your video last night. I want you to know that because of how you explain the chain-double crochet pattern, I finally got it!!! Thank you, Robin so much!!!
