There are so many different granny squares. I use to know it by heart. Thank you. This is the square I taught myself when I was in high school. I am 71 years young 😊 and you saved my anxiety. This is what calms me down. I crocheted my mother who is 92 in her own apartment an afghan. It was a king size afghan. She still has it and it looks like new. I used this exact pattern. 😅😅😅 Thank you so much. I have subscribed to you. I'm so exhilarated. ❤❤❤❤

Like you, I’ve not crocheted for ages. I am 79 and have osteoarthritis in my fingers, and I used to use size 40 Coats Mercer crochet to make lace covers for my coffee tables. I was quite good at crochet. Now I find myself stumbling at crocheting a mere chain! I thought crochet would be easier than knitting, which hurts my hands now. I was once an excellent knitter.

Im 50 and randomly got interested in crochet and knitting. I struggled for years and have all the yarn just waiting to become something. I sorta gave up and just bought a knitting machine. The knitting machine is great but the desire to learn how to crochet never left. After years of trying I thought maybe if I can just learn a granny square. I watched this video over and over, I lost count. After starting and pulling everything apart time after time I finally got it! I’m so proud I wish I could attach a photo to this comment. I looked for the FB page but it wasn’t there then I noticed this video is from 2017. Anyway this is the start of something great for me 😊 and you’re a great teacher! Thank you!!

Raise the flag and phone the neighbors! A beginners tutorial that actually behaved as if it were for...well, beginners. I found this video to be truly instructive (thanks for slowing things down!) and helpful on so many levels, but especially with regard to the geography of the square, and the way that geography changes as you add more rounds. Seems a simple enough concept, but nowhere in the dozen or so other videos I've watched was the pattern broken down to "dc 3, chain 2, dc 3". Six dcs is not the same as 3dc, chain 2, dc 3. NOW, after your vid, I can recognize the patterns of the stitches, and where the real holes are. After about 13 attempts this week, i was finally able to successfully crochet a granny square. Thank you!

I am glad you told the beginners to turn their work on the Granny Square pattern because it will keep the pattern/square in a nice square shape. If a person does not turn their work the square gets a slant or sort of a spiral wonky shape. You have made a helpful tutorial 🧶
