The assumptions you gave us in 5:49 - would you say that's the lower threshold for the score or around the median score of the AP score?

I assume you are talking about the score needed to get a 5. It varies from year to year so hard to say but I would say what I showed is more the median. You could probably do slightly worse and still get a 5. But again it varies.

when do you use normal cdf vs a z test to find a probability

If you have the mean and SD of a population and are asked to find a probability within that population you can use normalcdf. In a z-test when you get a test statistic that is a z-score you also use normalcdf to get the p-value. Hope that helps, if need more specifics let me know.
