It depends on what model stepper you have. Certain models are not bad and some models you will almost certainly pull a shaft. Replacing steppers is not difficult per say but if you’re not careful and you pull a pad, you can make a small problem a big one rather quickly.

Certain colors “mix” better than others. From my experience, if you put blue LEDs behind red needles, the needles will still illuminate well but putting red LEDs behind blue needles doesn’t work (the needles hardly illuminate). How do you make sure the needles are properly set if you're swapping the cluster face to a different style?
@Tachtronics Жыл бұрын
We use a special tools to simulate and calibrate the needles but in the general DIY scenario, there isn’t necessarily a perfect solution. I’d suggest marking the needle positions on the original face and then eyeballing it as close to those markings as you can on the new face. I’ve never found the original calibration to be particularly accurate to begin with so I don’t think you’ll make it much worse. If you have access to a scan tool with live data, you can go off of the live data readings to adjust your calibration as needed.

There are several ways to do it, one is the way that I did it in the video which isn’t necessarily the best way. 2, try this link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4THpKSXhJ5soqM 3. I’ve been meaning to do video on another method but haven’t had time. unclip all of the top clips of the lens (leaving only the 2 bottom clips in place), now pull up on the top of the lens to cause some separation between the cluster and the lens, then apply pressure between the 2 bottom corners of the lens and the white housing of the cluster (you’re forcing the lens and white housing to separate). If you do this while the lens is at the correct angle, the lens tabs will slide passed the “bumps” on the white housing. I hope that makes sense.

This is in response to your answer to my question before about the digital screen. Ok do you sell new ones or should I take one from a unit I got from the junk yard that works great? Mine has steering wheel controls the unit I got from the JY does not is that ok?
@Tachtronics3 жыл бұрын
They don’t sell that screen separately new so the only solutions are either change out the whole cluster or remove the screen from another one and install it on yours. If you install a cluster from a truck that did not have radio control buttons, the buttons will no longer work.

Procedure to have repairs made? Costs for all new steppers and LED bulbs??
@Tachtronics2 жыл бұрын
A rebuild costs $150 including return shipping. Print off the service order form from the bottom of the home page on our website, remove your cluster (I have another video on my channel showing how), ship the cluster with the service order form to us (address can be found on the service order form or our website), and then give it a couple of days to arrive. Our turn around time is 1-2 business days.

I got a question man, I have a 2003 f150 and I’m trying to put LEDs on the speedometer but the face gauge or whatever it’s called is black and has like this green under lay so no matter what Led or light I put on it’ll still be green, how do I fix it or where do I buy a new one
@Tachtronics3 жыл бұрын
I think USSpeedo has a couple of custom options. I have very little experience with Ford clusters but I’ve heard the green film on the gauge face can be removed with rubbing alcohol

Will an 2004 Escalade cluster work in a 2004 Yukon Xl with the 8.1 ?
@Tachtronics3 жыл бұрын
The gauges will all function but if the calibration of the Escalade doesn’t match the Yukon, it’s possible that you could have a something random like a battery light stay on or a brake booster error display on the DIC. Also if you have the Allison transmission (I assume you do since you have an 8.1) your cluster has an option to turn off OD and it may not work or at least won’t display with the Escalade cluster.
@vr-cx6lq3 жыл бұрын
@@Tachtronics the yukon xl has the 4l85e transmission they couldn't fit the allison in that body style would that cause any issues my truck is also the slt its pretty well optioned
@Tachtronics3 жыл бұрын
@@vr-cx6lq ‘04 can be a slightly tricky year, I’ve seen the occasional “late ‘04” that actually has an ‘05 cluster in it and if you swap an ‘04 with an ‘05, the battery light will stay on. The “late ‘04” cluster is rare though so not likely that this will be an issue for you. Other options to check is do both vehicles have radio control buttons in the steering wheel (I’m sure the Escalade will) and do they both have hydraulic brakes. If the donor vehicle has vacuum brakes and your vehicle has hydraulic brakes, you’ll get a brake booster error message.

Do you carry bright white leds/4000k for this gauge cluster?
@Tachtronics3 жыл бұрын
The white LEDs that I currently sell are not super bright. It’s Brent Pugh finding reliable LEDs that have a built in resistor to work with 12v. I do however have a different style in stock that is brighter but they’re not as easy to install so I typically install them for customers myself.

@Tachtronics2 жыл бұрын
The mileage is stored in the cluster itself so it needs to be programmed. Email us at tachtronics@gmail.com and we can talk about selling you a cluster with mileage already programmed add well as with blue LEDs.
