I have problems getting my grips flush because I have alot of reverse pitch. I used to just try and force it and it never worked right. After watching this video, I couldn't wait to try doing it this way. It worked great and I'll never do it any other way again. I love how it turned out.

This is amazing. I am blown away by how good the finished product looks. I have always hated cutting grips and just dealt with distorting them by forcing them in and gluing. Of course I just recently changed to not using grips at all, so I can’t even try this anymore, but I still appreciate that such a technique exists.

omg, can't wait to try this. I've done similar steps but not quite the same and never had the results you're showing. I hate how my inserts either stick out of the ball or I'm left with jagged and sharp edges. This might be just what I needed. Thanks

Really great info here. I may start drilling my own balls soon on the drill press, so this is very helpful.

Great tip. I just butchered my inserts today so hopefully I can smooth them out with some acetone.

My pro shop left the grips sticking out so high, it was really annoying me. This is perfect, got them flush. Thank you!

I use nail polish remover and a qtip after trimming and it worked amazingly

Fantastic attention to detail. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. The biggest issue that I have in regards to inserts is; I use vise semi-power-lift inserts. Trimming them removes part of the "lift" portion of the grip. It seems as though the options are: let then stick out a bit and hope that no one notices, or, insert them deep enough so that they don't stick out, or, stop using power-lift inserts. What would you recommend?

What are your pitches?

I just switched from these exact grips to ovals and I’ll never go back. Try the ovals if you haven’t already. They feel natural and you’ll be able to use this cutting method as a bonus.

Nice technique, but I have a question for you. Are you using the xacto knife on the inside edge of the grip where your finger goes, or on the outside edge of the grip where it touches the ball? It's hard to tell from the camera angle. Thanks.
@Nulookproshopbowling Жыл бұрын
On the inside edge where your finger goes, just to barely break the edge. The you will use the Acetone after that.

I wac using the same cutting method but without the ball cleaner and acetone. Genius ! Thanks ! Can the acetone alone be enough for the inside part of the grips in case we don't have a surgical type blade ?
@Nulookproshopbowling Жыл бұрын
It will soften the edge a little but an exacto knife just barely taking a sliver off the edge makes it better and faster. You can get them at any hobby store or arts store.

Can you do this process with lift grips/pillows?
@chadhauser634 ай бұрын
You can just depends on how strong the pitches are.
@rondambrosio9967 Жыл бұрын
Do you have a technique for the clear vise grips? They seem to be really tough to cut smooth.
@Nulookproshopbowling Жыл бұрын
They should cut the same way. Just make sure you’re lubricating the blade with the ball cleaner and you’re using a brand new blade and when you cut it make sure you’re cutting in a slicing type motion, and so your pulling the blade towards you and not towards the grip. Hope that makes sense.

Can you tell me what kind or size of razor blade that is? I'm having a hard time find something like that. Thank you.
@Nulookproshopbowling8 ай бұрын
It’s a standard 1” wide razor blade from Home Depot. Then get an exact knife.

I use VISE insert glue. Don’t use regular crazy glue from Home Depot or department stores.

I myself am 3/4 left and 1/2” reverse and 0 and 1/2” reverse in ring finger. I have also done some for Belmo and he is 1” reverse.

Any EXACTO blade from a craft or Hobby Store. The bigger blade for cutting them is from Home Depot.

Why would you cut the grip just put upper side in first then glue that side then pull up the other side and glue its easier
@Nulookproshopbowling Жыл бұрын
Because you are distorting the natural position of the insert which does also change the size. To each there own, this is just another alternative, especially with vacu grips when you only glue the top front side.
