You just saved my life and so much tears. Thank you a million times for this video. Very well explained. As a beginner, I have nobody to turn to when I need explanations and sometimes, the pattern is not detailed as I wish it would be. You just gave me two alternatives for the inner leg seams. THANK YOU again.

Thanks for the video. I've sewn dozens of pajama pants and find it easiest to sew from the inside seams first to the outside seams last.

Could you tell us why you find it easier to start with the inside seam? I am going to try it her way first and see how that goes
@bhobbs32842 жыл бұрын
@@dcwatashi As the expression goes, "there are many ways to peel a carrot". What works for me, might not be the best way for you. Having stated that, I find the method I adopted to be incredibly easy. 1, inside legs (front and back together) 2. crotch seam (left and right together) 3. outside seams ( front and back together) 4, waist band 5, hem legs. With Alisa (whom I respect and enjoy her tutorials) method, she tells her viewers that it is tricky to match the crotch seam after you've sewn the outside seams. So why not sew the crotch seam (the difficult seam) before the outside seams (the easiest seams)? After you have sewn the inside legs, the left and right sides can lay flat on top of one another. Easy-peasy to line everything up. After you sew that, turn the garment inside out and sew the outside seams, which are also easy to line up. Any question? Try it and use whatever method works best for you. I'm sticking with this method that I've used for years.

@@bhobbs3284 thank you so much for replying. So I have finished sewing one side then I’m going to have a cup of coffee and some chocolate cake lol and then sew the other one and see how it goes. So first I’ll try her way and then if I have any difficulty I will try to comprehend your way 😀👍🏻

Great lesson Alisa 👍🏾 How do I make serger do the covers twitch? 💯🥳
@ThoughtfulCreativity3 жыл бұрын
Hello there! Unfortunately you can't - unless you have 2 in 1, serger and coverstitch. Coverstitch is a separate machine in my case, I have a video all about. I am not at the computer right now, but you can look through my videos and will see a coverstitch video.

@@user-uj9cy2wj1j nice! The best thing that I can think of to do is to open a manual to your particular coverstitch - or you can find one online in PDF. That will help you the most. It is actually really straightforward to use one - have fun!

I made a beginner error by cutting the back pattern on the right side of the fabric instead of the wrong side. Do I need to go buy more fabric and do it correctly or can I work with this somehow? Did I mention I am a beginner and this is my very first item?
@ThoughtfulCreativity Жыл бұрын
As long as you have cut two front pattern pieces mirrored and two back pattern pieces mirrored - you have all pattern pieces you need. It does not really matter if you cut your patterns with fabric right side up or down... What matters is WHAT pattern pieces you cut. You need to have two back pattern pieces - one for each leg, so when you put them one the table right sides up they should be facing (mirrored) and same with front pattern pieces. If not sure, baste the pattern pieces together by hand or pin and you will see right away if you have cut 2 of the same legs, or one of each. EDITED to add: if you do realize you have cut double the pattern piece and not mirrored then you will most likely need to get more fabric.

What does it mean to finish the raw edges of the fabric?
@johnwinston9111 Жыл бұрын
It means adding a serged stitch to make the raw edge nice & clean looking. If you don't have a serger, use a decorative stitch down the raw edge of your seam.

Unfortunately my crotches don’t line up in the pattern. I’ve made so many drafts but have to be sneaky because of Christmas! I made a sample out of bedsheets and even though the crotches don’t line up perfectly the pants seem to be ok?!? They’re loose because they’re PJ pants
@katematthews72233 жыл бұрын
Is that ok?!
@ThoughtfulCreativity3 жыл бұрын
I don't understand what you mean by "the crotches don't line up"... did you cut them accurately, with same seam allowance and sewed them with same seam allowance as well? Your back crotch in most cases will be longer than your front, if that is what you're asking... and they don't need to line up. You're putting front to front and back to back. So if something isn't lining up - I am prompted to think it is most likely your sewing.
@bhobbs32843 жыл бұрын
That's why I sew from the inside seams to the outside seams. 1. Inside leg seams 2. Crotch seam 3. Outside leg seams. The waist and leg hems With this sequence, the left and right sides lie perfectly flat and it is easy to line up the inside leg seams when sewing the crotch seam. Easy peasy. But use whatever method works best for you. Happy sewing!
