Dude, your channel is so helpful and much appreciated. There are a couple other channels with good info, but you talk to us like we’re on the same level. And you don’t smother us with unnecessary endless intros. I’m a home improvement contractor, but never did much tile, because it stresses me out and makes me limp with my knees at the end of the day 😂 Now I’m getting a bunch of bathroom jobs and have watched tons of your videos for good ideas etc. Again, so much appreciation for you and the effort you put into this. Thanks so much for all the help. 👍

Straight to the point unlike the clownish DIY on other channels. DIY like this is needed to show people to use the tools they already have. Don't need to spend money on a new tool for just 1-time use. Great job Tile coach!

I've never actually had a tiled shower that was for me. I even own my own home, and it had a Tub / Fiberglass walls. I couldn't afford to hire a professional, so I started looking around to learn to do it myself. After watching you for a year now, i'm 3/4 the way through tiling my shower. Because of you, and your videos i'll be taking a shower in my own tiled shower when I finish. So, thanks for being my TileCoach!

I am really glad to have found your channel Coach. I am a retired carpenter who has done many bathroom gut jobs to finish. When you only do tile , maybe once a year or more you need to refresh the brain. I am doing a 3`x4` shower stall with 18x18 tile. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Liked your final statement at the end of this video. I , myself have been getting a little squirrely lately with this covid mess . Keep on keeping on Coach.

Hey Isaac! I do a similar thing but make a circular hole by doing what you do, but not going all the way through (3/4 way through tile from back) and then making a cross(not diagonal) in the middle and then knocking it out. I'll make a vid tomorrow at work if you would like to see! Always great content, been watching you for a few years now. Love from small town Dunedin, New Zealand.

Used a diamond hole saw to cut all mine today. I did use a wood board cut-out as a guide, but it worked. Apparently I suck at measuring but plenty of time to get it right. The shower head I got in 2 cuts

I learned to layout the cut the same way but to use the flat side of the grinder wheel to shallow out the material then punch it through the face with a nailset. That's what happens when a cowboy teaches you how to set tile. Now I'm all about the hole saw

This happens a lot for me when a client gets a lower quality tile. They tend to have a less dense body and the vibrations shatter the tile. I put a piece of drywall or foam board under the tile when grider cutting. I have worked with many tile a manual cutter wont score without breaking.

Does this also apply to porcelain? Also, can I drop some water onto the cutting blade of my angle grinder to make a cut into porcelain tile already set on the shower wall? I'm a newbie and have huge fear of ruining or breaking the tile. Thanks for the video, really helpful.

If you have an existing hole in tile that is already on the wall that needs to be widened to get a tool inside do you recommend using the little grinder to make it bigger?

Got a question for u about tiling next to a tub, but not sure where to ask. I've tiled my bathroom. In doing so, I left a gap between the tile and the bathtub. The gap is not filled with grout or thinset. There's not a lot of info about best way to handle the gap. Should I have our grout there (I still can). Or should I have put thinset and then grout right up against the tub? I assume I'd want to put a small like if caulk as well.

With the saw unplugged and the blade dry, set a Sharpie on the table, aimed the tile's thickness from the edge of the blade, and hand-spin the blade to draw a circle on the blade. When plunge cutting, you will know when the blade is breaking though when said circle is even with the tile surface.

Hey Isaac if you do anymore testing videos I think it would be neat to test how well Thinset bonds to WEDI sealant. I'm intrigued by the lack of banding on a WEDI system because as a novice it seems a lot easier to manage rather than accidentally wrinkling membrane over and over.

Great video showing again how to cutout holes. Pretty great and think anyone can follow those instructions. Also, some holes saws are $10 or around there (+ or - $5-$10) and even if burn up the hoe saw for a job, might be worth it for a DIYer etc… Happy Holidays O-Tile🙏🏼

What I did was make sure the fitting was close to where the back of the tile would be when it was finished. That way I can still easily see it, but it’s deep enough that the threads don’t show.

@@yoyoitsKerry your over thinking it I've never had one leak I use tape that way I can tell it's a snug fit if it feels a little loose take it off and re tape it till you can barely get it in the correct position by hand if it's close maybe use vice grips or what ever covering the pipe with something so it won't get scratched obviously but usually can get it by hand and if your realy worried about it try looking in the access panel if it has one

I installed a shower base for a customer. She was gonna have her girlfriends over, tile the shower, and have some wine, all at the same time. I only had to cu the hole out for the shower head, cause she forgot about it. Wasn’t the worst job I’ve ever seen. Fun lady.
