I'm original owner of a well-kept '95 4WD Suburban and over the years the dash developed a large crack that started from the center dash screw. All the rattling also took out the clips for the remaining two dash screws. Other than that, the dash was in pretty good shape. I ordered and installed a DashSkin and the transformation was pretty damn awesome...looks like direct from the factory and the color match was perfect. Thankfully, I only have 161k miles on the Suburban so I should get many more years use out if it.

When you put the dash kit on did the rattling / noise / vibration go away with the epoxy ?
@photog15292 ай бұрын
@@DavidSanchez-sf3by Yes...all gone. The skin has the same screw mounts that line up with the factory screws at the base of the windshield...nice and secure. I'd recommend getting a second tube of the silicone and be generous with it (except near the edges). A single tube doesn't quite seem to be enough.

If i wasnt changing our 1998 w/t 1500 truck from manual to power i would have bought this for the dash in blue as ours is completly destroyed. But i got another dash i had to repair some areas and going to paint it. But the old dash is destroyed like mentioned and ill be changing the entire wiring harness to power. But next time if i ever buy another OBS vehicle i`ll consider this tremendously.

I just bought one of these for my 1998 Silverado, planning the install. I see on this one, you don't show using the three screws going through the defroster area on this one, but on a video for the 1995-1996 style, that one you do show to use those three screws to hold the dash skin. Is there any reason not to use the three screws on the 97-98 style since they are both the same in that area? Thanks!

The 1995-1996 dash cover was designed specifically to use the existing bolts, but the 97-99 cover was designed to install over them (so the shape of the little port is shallower). I am not sure that the original bolts will reach if you drilled holes due to this design decision, but if you improvise and try to make that work, just be careful not to overtighten them.

@@DashSkin Awesome thank you for responding!!! There is a video of one guy installing on here on youtube who did drill them out, figured safe bet was to ask.

The entire middle section of my dash is gone There’s nothing to support the skin. What do you do in this case? I’m sure your skin would be perfect for just a few cracks but mine is destroyed due to sun. Tried to send pic but couldn’t load on this page

why don't you use old dash screws near the glass ?
@DashSkin7 ай бұрын
This is a dash cover rather than a replacement; the silicone adhesive does a great job and keeping the cover on, and doesn't stress the skin like trying to use the factory bolts would. The screw tunnel feature of the skin is also spaced to allow installing over the original dash bolts, so if you tried to use those dash bolts you'd stretch and deform the skin to get them tightened.
