My aunt has a gold retriever that's a bright platinum blonde. He greets people by bringing them one of his stuffed animals. He doesn't actually want you to take the toy, he wants pets for being a good boy. The best part is, his upper lips are droopy, so everytime he brings you a toy, his cheeks puff up and he looks like his smiling, it's super cute!

As someone who has had four of my dogs through the years get skunked, thank you so much for the recipe! The toothpaste surprised me, the rest I finally learned through trial and error except of course not to wet them first. The very first time my dog got sprayed was before the internet and I had to rely on word of mouth which recommended tomato juice. When you use that you end up with a dog that smells like skunk and tomatoes who ends up with a nice pink tint.

She's 100% correct about the H2O2 x baking soda mix. It's the ONLY thing I found in 20+ years of pet grooming that actually worked on Skunk spray at all. I can't personally attest to the toothpaste additive, but this channel consistently gives *good* advice, so I trust her word on it. ~an NCMG

it’s not always the groomers choice . Some owners don’t want or can’t afford too many grooms ,or don’t want the trouble of managing a longer coat .

The groomers should talk to clients about why but I end up having long conversations about matting. Double coats usually not as bad but sometimes cant save it and parts need to he cut or shaved. A lot of people have no idea how to keep a healthy coat on a dog.

I saved this video for the de skunking tips. I have a rescued coon dog that mainly lives indoors and several raccoons and skunks who sneak up to eat cat food outside. Walking up on skunks was the cutest and scariest event. We've been lucky so far, but this video may come in handy one day!

Skunks are legal in 17 midwest states to own as pets. Provided you get one from a captive USDA licensed breeder or broker/auctioneer. Reputable breeders have their kits de glanced so the skunk will not be able to spray for the rest of their lives. Same concept as de clawing a kitten or cat. So indoor pet care is a must. Some vets have distemper, dewormer and rabies vaccines for skunks, but rabies vaccines is debatable. They come in fancy colors too, not just black and white and have been semi DOMESTICATED for about 50years :3 I live in TX so it sucks that I can't own one.

@@stephaniewhite7512 Hi do you in one of those lucky 17 states? XD Reputable skunk breeders have their kits De-glanded before being sent home to their owners. De-glanded or De-scented means they'll NEVER be able to create or use their infamous stink spray. Its the same concept as having a kitten or cat entirely de-clawed. So indoor care is a must provided with leashed walks because pet skunks are prone to obesity. XD

@@stephaniewhite7512 and pet skunks are cheap, the high end $500, low end $100. Medium $300 to $450 on average estimate with a lifespan a little longer than a ferrets. 6-10years. They need fruits and veggies with their wet food cat or dog quality meat diet XD

Be sure to pass along this tip to people who have "skunk-prone" dogs as well, the best way to keep your dog from smelling of skunk is actually to make sure your dog doesn't harass wildlife to begin with! Tell them to always walk their dogs on leash and to secure them either inside or in a well fenced area during the night, with no food left out or other attractants for skunks or other wildlife. Not only will the dogs smell sweeter, they'll be at less risk of contracting diseases from fighting with or killing wild animals. It's safer and better for everyone
