I read a quote today that stood out to me. "Self-worth is not based on productivity." This is important if you're having an off day! As long as you are doing your best everyday and you keep in mind that your best meter changes day by day then you are more self-aware and self-loving.

"I'm such a hermit when I'm stressed, stressing about being alone while stressing" That's ME too!
@emmanuelleh72186 жыл бұрын
Few things I use when I'm being stressed comes from the Headspace app pack on Stress and from Stoic philosophy. One thing is to stop repeating to yourself (and others) that you are stressed since most of the time it only makes you stressed about being stressed. One other thing is to think about the cause and try to figure out how much of it is in your control. If you can do something about it, do it, no need to be stressed. If you can't do anything about it then why stress about it. Rationalising it usually does the trick.

I stress out when I postpone the things that I should be doing (like most of the people). Aaaaand finishing these tasks as quick as possible even though I feel so tired at the end, always helps me to keep myself away from stress. Also after a hard day like that a cup of green tea and some meditation makes me feel much more relaxed.

Rowenaaaa thank you x100, perfect timing for this! You really helped me understand the source of my stress and anxiety - didn't realize it myself because it's not straight up negative, but it's a big change that I have to learn how to handle.The thing i love the most is how honest you are with yourself, about stuff like feeling grateful all the time. We're all learning here, it's a good reminder that no one ever has their entire life together, even the most wise and inspiring people. You're so funny and i love your energy! Thanks again for the bomb advice, it's priceless!!😍🌻

I find that a major form of stress for me is mistrust and the fear of not being in control! I feel like if I am out of control, nothing will go well and I could lose something I care about! Haha sounds crazy, but I need to find methods to stop obsessing over control, because I could be laying on the couch with nothing to do, but still stressed out. I recently read somewhere that everyone has their own life story, and you shouldn't deprive people of having a great story to tell. Even if I think something is a mistake, my opinions, advice, or choices are mine alone and I shouldn't expect other people to live my life. Additionally, I need to accept that there are times where letting go of control can be beneficial and to not fear the death I could not die of.

I'm glad that you're no longer stressed. I've been feeling overwhelmingly stressed for so many moments in my life. Being 26 and wanting to be independent and all the usual stuff people at my age does but being held back of all the responsibilities thrown at me by life. It's hard to live the life you want to live when you are trapped by all the responsibilities of being the eldest child of a broken family. Don't get me wrong, I have been trying so hard to not forget about myself and my future despite all this. But there are definitely moments when I just end of breaking down. It's hard tbh but I have to just get myself back up.

I've been anxious about having anxiety and I've been stopping myself from accepting my anxiety as just a part of me and moving forward with it instead of pittying myself for it and fighting against it. I have to accept it. I have to practice acceptance. Thank you Rowena for that realization. Keep doing what your doing.

Perfectly timed as always haha. And yes, it’s amazing how we put our bodies through so much stress and keep on like it’s perfectly fine for such long stretches of time. There’s always time at the end of the day to recenter and help ourselves, even if only for 10 minutes. (I’m 100% guilty as well haha)

Good ideas. I especially like the idea of active coping over avoidance (with its eventually greater cost in stress). I'm adapting these ideas to my own life. I can at least do what I _can_ about a stressful situation. Well presented video, and I appreciate the added notes. Thank you.

I started noticing that I have a lot of stress in my life despite how happy and successful I feel generally. Particularly it was when I started getting hormonal acne on my face and doctors could not figure out why.. turned out I had high cortisol due to high levels of stress... after that I started to pay more attention to myself and tried to find causes of my stress. I am still trying to figure out how to distress myself and shut down the “perfectionist”, “do it all” voice inside my head. Thank you for this interesting and helpful video! I really like your channel ❤️

Hi Rowena, thank you so much for this video and your insight. It's about 5:30 pm now and I honestly haven't done much with my day and I've been beating myself up about it. I'm basically unemployed, just waitressing from time to time. I'm married to a wonderful guy who is invested in self-growth and sees great things in me too. Yesterday, we went to the dog shelter to look at rescuing a pup and afterwards I was so overwhelmed and stressed. I was concerned that getting a dog would mean that we wouldn't get to embark on the travels we've always talked about. Also, I felt incredibly guilty seeing the dogs in cages and leaving them behind. Anyway - I think the stress is coming from not having my own project and feeling that if we get a pup - I won't be able to fulfill some of my life dreams. ie travel the world. I apologize for the rambling. I honestly didn't intend to write so much - but I suppose this was me writing out my feelings and oddly I'm already starting to feel better. After saying all that, thank you so very much for being a light in the world and being you. Sending positivity your way.

It takes everything to get off the couch, get dressed, pick up a book or go out. My mom passed two months ago, I am highly stressed from work and have very few days off. When I do I stress about what I am doing the next day at work and how I don’t have time to relax. It seems like a really big decision to just choose what to do on my day off, because I think I need to make the day this amazing thing. So I sit still, binch KZbin and try to convince myself to get up without any luck. I haven’t prosessed my moms passing at all, I just deny it and don’t believe it. I really don’t enjoy my summer job. I was supposed to be 50%, but it’s nearly 100% and the night before work and the day of I freak out, get anxiety and feel like I am about to go to my exam every day. I am only working there this summer, so I know it’s not forever. But it’s still 1,5 months left and I want to find a way to cope. I don’t want to live like this the rest of the summer. I wish I took time off to process my moms passing. She passed right before I finished my degree and had been sick for two years. I need my life to pause…

In my current situation I am being forced into religious beliefs that I am being told should help me feel better about myself. Personally there not, I want to look into the excersises you talked about and maybe that would help me center myself more. I also love how you talked about the way we think about things like when we say I can't do that or have limits on our potential how that negatively affects our lives.
