Sometimes when the stress is too much to handle, I write story. I make up fictional characters, dump my problem on one of them and let there be a mentor who tries to resolve the issue. Yes it sounds crazy but it does help.

However, I am trying to actively manage myself during the rest of the week. my anxiety usually makes me freeze & become almost unable to function. i want desperately to just hide under the bed-- I almost wish anxiety made me frantically busy! My house could use a good stress-cleaning, but sometimes the thought of overcoming the mess almost overwhelms me. it helps me to break big jobs into smaller tasks, and to say them out loud to myself: "okay, now I'm going to do the dishes. Then I'll sort the mail on the dining room table." many of your ideas help with my" frozen-rabbit way" of dealing with fear. i find that getting out for a walk every day helps me break out of that almost-frozen state. It sometimes becomes a catalyst for other actions. It also helps me sleep better. Working in my garden also calms me in a way that sometimes even energizes me. Practicing mindfulness has really helped me in recent years; i try to be aware of what exactly it is I'm feeling in my body when I'm anxious, and then to breathe through it (I've held my breath when I'm scared since I was a little kid-- as an adult, i realized that I usually breathe "up high" and have to consciously try to fill my entire lungs with each breath. That almost always calms me down. it's all a process, isn't it?

Carl, Heal yourself from anxiety. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your natural incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 10-15 minutes or more. Let thoughts come. Slowly negative thoughts will reduce and relax the mind. Whenever you are free sit still for a few minutes and observe your breath. Being still reduces negative thoughts. Make it a habit. Do the above meditation regularly to have a better life. Best wishes and prayers. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

Melatonin doesn't work for me either. It hypes me up! I've found writing down three things that happened in the day that I enjoyed, or 3 things I'm thankful for, then in my planner I review my next day and write down anything I'm hoping to accomplish. That tends to help me quiet my mind some (though I rarely get anything on those lists done).

Try to take some time like 4-5 hours before sleep for like 10-15 munutes and do nothing, it will give your brain time to process stuff happened during day, after few days of doing it continously it should help immensely. Also muscle relaxation is also really good stuff.

Suggestion from my psychologist: - Turn your phone, television off 15-30 minutes before bed. - Read a book or magazine before bed. It will lull you to sleep. - No eating before bed, your body works harder to break down food it just digested, when it should be resting and rejuvenating for the next day. - Listening to meditation videos at bedtime may help. - Drink hot calming tea. No caffeine! No coffee! - A simple 10 min workout to get your serotonin pumping. You will gather your thoughts before bed and focus on finishing a goal. Afterward you will feel accomplished with a small goal that is attainable to do most days of the week. If these do not help, journal. Write what is bothering you physically down. Describe it. Confront it on paper. Express what you felt you “shouldn’t or couldn’t” say out loud or publicly. Then rip it up, ball it up and throw it out or burn it. Just discard it. You WILL feel better afterward 😊 Herbs that help depression & anxiety: Ashwagandha St John’s Wort Here is a video I found of TIAN covering this topic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZyqiKqvp6iiiNU

My favorite is the verses prior though, it makes a beautiful analogy of nature and makes the ironic comment about how worrying doesn't better or extend your life. :) Matthew 6 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

I think the idea about that your fears are a lot worse that reality. I knew someone who was paranoid about his brand new car being stretched. He could sleep and was checking his parked car on the street. At some point, the local kid hit with his bike and left a small debt on the bumper. The reaction of the owner was upsetting but a lot less to what was imagined by mind

This is simple, but not easy - thanks! Two big things for me: 1. Stress is naturally resolved by taking a physical response. 2. When there is too much coming at you, the brain interprets this is being in danger, and thus bringing in the anxiety response.

It was terrifying for me and I never thought I’d feel normal again. Now I don’t experience it at all anymore! No joke. I heard other people say they fully recovered but never believed them, now here I am! A HUGE part of my recovery was educating myself on DPDR using Shaun O’Connor’s eBook and watching his KZbin videos. If you’re looking for other resources to help, try him out! Just wanted to let you know you’re not alone and it really does get better. Again, people say this all the time but I’m telling you the truth. And try to keep that frame of mind through out the day. If something happens just say so what it doesn't matter one day I'll be gone anyway and my soul will go to the next level nothing in this world really matters.

These videos are a tremendous help to me and I share them with my adult children and hopefully they take time out of their busy schedules to listen. You are doing God’s work. Even though if feels overwhelming, His yoke is easy and His burden light. If we couldn’t handle it, He wouldn’t have entrusted us to the work. Just keep on keeping on. He doesn’t allow us to see many things He just wants us to trust and obey. It seems like a long journey, and you might have a long way to go because you are so young, but your future might not be as expected. You are a truly blessed person and only because of God. Otherwise you wouldn’t be blessed. Look around, I know you do. ❤️😘

And thank you so much for your wonderful videos. I'm working through a mindbody syndrome right now for chronic pain that's last and disabled me for nearly 17 years. It did begin with an actual running injury, but it spiraled into something so much worse. And it hit me at a time of both good stresses and bad - you could substitute the word anxieties. Through my mindbody work, I realize that though most people would describe me as a laid back person, I used to be an anxiety junkie, getting as much done in a day as I dared to do, always pushing myself to the limit. But it took its toll over time. And even now, especially because for now I still can't exercise at the levels I used to, I have a lot of anxiety beneath the surface that often registers as MBS symptoms. I thank you so much for your videos which have given me so many new skills for managing stressors/triggers and my anxiety level. Using them and doing some other practices has already yielded promising improvement in my symptoms. So from the bottom of my heart, thanks so very much! You have made a positive difference in my life, and I'm sharing your channel with others in the hope that their lives improve as well from engaging in your knowledge and wisdom. Thanks again and God bless!

If people did these 3 things their overall health will be improved and stress will go away in time. You will feel a lot better if you do these 3 things on a daily basis as a positive habit.

I love this. you mentioned a lot of different tips which can sometimes get overwhelming if we have no idea where to start but I love how you said that this isn't going to be a quick fix and that we should focus more on making small sustainable changes. It kinda goes back to the whole idea of breaking a challenge/fear down into smaller steps. I've used that technique in so many areas of my life and it's transformative!

Your channel is super helpful, you give great advice and I'll try to give it to people who are close to me. I've made myself a method of writing things I've done throughout the day as a way of fighting with my depression and taking myself down all the time but now I see this technique can be super powerful with a lot of different things. I hate lists normally but it just feels nice to look at things you've done and have a proof that you are not useless. I think I might also start noting things that I've not done that day that are bad, like bad thoughts or excessive drinking etc.

Belief in "Evolution" is not normal for humans. Only after Darwin did anyone took Evolution seriously? Befote that, the whole of human kind, always thought God created humans for a purpose. I mean how did the people in the distant past think about these things. It's not a Scientific position to believe in "Evolution"(or random mutation aiding survival of species) but a Philosophical and Metaphysical way of looking at the world. Instead of imagining your fear and stress as "accidental", it's possible to realise that these are not accidental at all rather they are given per individual to individual as "crosses to bear", so that we become more humble; So we can develop the Virtues ( you know the Seven virtues)
@Getting.Better4 жыл бұрын
@@lakshmipillai9090 I never said that. May be your interpretation is different.
@Getting.Better4 жыл бұрын
@@jackdarby2168 Learning about evolution makes us understand some things. If you can learn why giraffe neck is long you understand that repeated practice grows organs. Even some brain cells in case of neuroplasticity. I didn't know seven virtues earlier. Just read them. And I believe that so called crosses to bear are not needed to achieve them. Sure heart break increase our spiritual growth. But how many of us have facilities to cross such barriers. Ask people abused at home how their life's go on then you can understand reality.

@@Getting.Better They say "Love the sinner, not the sin" Nobody said life was or is ever ment to be easy. The Creator of gods and men alike, him we call Father, Brahma or Allah, is it possible that he could have ever made a mistake, even in the life of a single individual creature of his? Was he slacking off in his job? Common opinion of people is that this is impossible. In other words everything has purpose. Now purpose implies direction ( so it's more like a Vector than a Scalar), this means everything that is has purpose is going somewhere. In other words everything slowly but surely is trying to go back into the principle from which it was created, is sustained, and for which it is destroyed namely God. Since everything will finally "meet one's maker", why don't we skip a couple of steps and get to know him already ( you're Hindu, right? Isn't this the real meaning of "Yoga", Union of the created creature back into the Creator) This is why they (the Scholastics) decided to put Theological Virtues in a class above the Cardinal Virtues, because the former are said to be closer to God. ("Theo" means something that has to do with God and you know that we use "logy", for anything concerning knowledge)

Hello Nabar, I suggest you try meditation or simply relaxing music. It's a simple way to reduce stress and anxiety. Meditation provides a soothing of the mind and helps to connect with yourself. Obviously, this does not prevent being followed by a health professional. However, I believe it's a good way to take care of yourself and make you feel better. I sincerely hope that you will find your means to fight your anxiety.

Thank you for your informative videos. You have a very compassionate nature that comes across and the videos on anxiety have helped me a lot! I do breathing exercises daily using an app on my phone after watching your video on square breathing. Some good ideas here too, I really liked how you explained that urge to go faster at work when the anxiety comes. I do that and being more aware of it now will hopefully help me to slow down. I find it is very important for me to get out in nature every day and exercise. Something I’ve also found that helps me, is having a set lunch I have each day. I just have different sandwiches with salad but it helps me to have that planned in advance. Also, having food in the freezer for dinner means I am prepared for those days when I’m not feeling functional enough to cook. Thanks again for your videos. They have helped me a lot 😊❤️

Wonderful advice, as usual. One thing that helps me relax is noticing when I feel happy or content. Noting when I feel enjoyment, no matter how small like enjoying making my afternoon cup of tea or looking at the sky while walking the dog in the backyard is so calming. And when I look back on the day, my memories are not just about the stressful stuff.

Really great tips here! Sleep for sure is definitely one of the key factors for helping me reduce stress... and if I can't sleep or if anxiety levels run high, Yoga Nidra is definitely a practice I turn to - even during the day, to help me get a souped up nap during the day. 15 - 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra can help me feel refreshed, like I've had 2 - 3 hours of deep sleep. As you've laid out here, it's never just the ONE thing you do, but the compounded results of layering all of these things you've touched on. Thank you!

Sometimes when life gets hard I like to remind myself of how much better I have it VS others. How the time I am born in is so much better, the family I am born in, the great many opportunities I get. Then I see that what I need and want I already have. What I lack is little and that makes me feel better. The thing is, we all know these things but we almost never remind ourselves of them. Also, thank you so much for this video :)

Very grateful for the valuable content of this video. I have been watching many of your videos over the last weeks to try to solve my desperate situation with anxiety, but while I was watching this video in particular, focusing my attention to your explanations, I felt as if a light were lit in my consciousness and suddenly I could have a much better insight and understanding of my problem. What you mention about the effect of obsessive watching news if specially revealing to me. I had come to the same conclussion long ago, but now I understand better how our mind-body works. Again, most grateful for this excellent video. Kind regards from Spain

Hi, just wanted to comment that you’ve really helped me handle anxiety. I have gotten afraid to be in public like going shopping etc as Ive felt stuck and at the wrong times felt afraid when there was nothing to be afraid of. This shrunk my life so much and now through your help im able to be with my anxiety by simply asking “where is the threat?” While be anxious and heart racing i look around and can find no threat and i immediately relax. Its a super power and builds my confidence so thank you 🙏🏻 ❤

COVID isolation has really affected how we see “ the public” and interacting in public had become threatening. Now, suddenly it’s like well never mind, it’s all ok now, but we still have that caution reaction around people. I call it peopling, and it can be very overwhelming. These types of videos help us to see well meaning anyway, that we are still reacting to the invisible threat that we were told was EVERYWHERE. Thank you Emma for your wisdom.
