Dude, you're a genius. I have never seen anyone reverse engineer the deadlift. Makes perfect sense. The explosive warm-up tips in the second video helped me out a lot with getting my bar speed up as I come past the shins and above my knees. I'll definitely give these tips and try next deadlift day.
@BrianAlsruheOfficial8 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Nicholas! I am so glad they helped you out a little bit!

Brain, about breathing at the top: how are you gonna behave when you have to do multiple reps? Breath at the lockout, then go down, go up, breath again etc.?
@BrianAlsruheOfficial8 жыл бұрын
Yep exactly. i get as many reps as i feel comfortable with on that first breath. Then I relate the air at lock out, re-breath/brace and drop down again. It works amazingly for me. I know some guys don't like doing it that way, but different things work for different people
@ari1236217 жыл бұрын
Brian Alsruhe when are you exhaling?
@donfie6532 Жыл бұрын
This is genius. I have watched a ton of these videos and never seen a recommendation to reverse engineer. I’m going to try this, I’m super slow off the bottom.

Keep it up

The Deadlift series helped me out of what I need to look for and feel for. Have not been deadlifting for about 4-5 years because I sprained my lower back. I was pulling 300x5 315x5 350x1 I was doing rack pulls with bands when I jacked up my back. So I'm going backwards and reprogram my mind and body to do the deadlift. So will be working on technical aspects of the deadlift. So this week is my first week back. I want to see how I feel in three months and maybe do a powerlifting meet in the summer. So thanks for the video series I will be going back and forth watching the videos. Keep up the good work Brian.

Brian, awesome video set, really informative. I just cracked 405 on my deadlift, took me close to a year to get from 365 to 405... I encountered so many of the barriers you laid out only it took me a year to figure them all out!The biggest barrier being that my set up was completely jacked... This set will be my goto for people asking about deads. Love the whole channel too btw.

Yourself and Alan Thrall are my favourite KZbin fitness dudes. Been deadlifting for years and thanks to your videos I'm still finding things I've not been doing 100% correct and ways to improve. Or maybe I'm just bad at deadlifting. Probably that.

Hey Brian, I watched the video where you showed yourself standing on a band and pushing down and it flicked a switch! I tried this in my last deadlift sets and it worked wonders. I'm definitely going to try the belly breath and brace while standing upright before going for the first lift - this is a great tip and makes a lot of sense. Brian, I've been putting your tips from the first two vids into action with amazing results. Your rubber band trick really helped me to visualize the pushing of the feet through the floor. This vid fills in even more. I have a vid doing 315 for reps already for the purpose of checking form, now I can use it to check stance too. And I thought it was just me that the second rep was easier, thanks for making me feel normal dude. You're the Best!!! Subscribed and liked all your stuff.

Great series of videos on how to fix my deadlift, very comprehensive with some great tips. The deadlift looks a relatively 'easy' exercise to perform but there's loads to do right from the off and a lot to focus on whilst performing the move. So this series of videos have been great to watch and hopefully, I'll continue to improve upon my technique. Honestly, it needs to improve!

+Brian Alsruhe hey Brian, some advice from you brother; I can't seem to decide between the hook grip and the normal alternating grip. I've been trying to use both to find out which one I like better. I'm still a newbie and still trying to find my deadlift groove. What's your thoughts on hook grip?
@BrianAlsruheOfficial8 жыл бұрын
I like it if you have problems engaging your lats with a supinated hand or have trouble with your grip. I seem to do ok with both so I choose to be nice to my thumbs but it is a lot of personal preference and figuring out what works best for you

I agree with you on the deficit deadlift, I find it to be a fantastic exercise to judge on technique and overall strength, but it didn't have much carryover on my conventional dead. I came to a point, last summer, where my deficit dead was stronger than my conventionnal. It was great to feel stronger, but kinda weird too as my main priority was to work on my weaknesses in the basic movement ahah. Keep it up!

@BrianAlsruheOfficial8 жыл бұрын

@BrianAlsruheOfficial8 жыл бұрын
I think they will work as part of your warm-up to get you ready for deadlifts. But I think it works the other way around. Heavy deadlifts with make your cleans fly off the floor faster. i don't think fast, light cleans will help your deadlift strength off the floor

I wish that I had watched this before my set this morning. Tried to hit my current set 1 rep max and failed. I figured that it was because my set up was too long. So with that in mind I basically did what you recommended. I walked up to the bar, didn't use straps, took a breath and ripped the bar off the ground. Then I proceeded to do a set of 3 reps with my previous 1 rep max.
