@@rexailos475 yeah, only thing that sucks is that there is a lot of rock paper scissors, that's why sonic cant consistently beat everyone's ass. luck is involved. If two people are blocking and one person jabs, if the second person jabs immediately after, they just get opened up for a free combo. Meanwhile the second person didn't see the first persons frames start.

I love these videos because there's so much information that just sums up by saying "Yeah you can do all this but you're still F'd so I don't know, take it or leave it" Lukes biggest counter is his upcoming patch notes.

How are you F'd? Many characters can do a target combo into a safe fireball or safe special move. I'm not sure what the problem is here. This video simply shows that there's ways to punish autopilot cancels into sandblast. I agree that Luke is very strong and probably needs nerfs, but I try to encourage people to use counterplay in situations like these.

Also it's kinda expensive but you can drive reversal it. It armor breaks, so you're pretty safe to do it in the corner if he's trying to do target combo into DI for the wall splat.

Late to this video but I was thinking of this in the car today. I know on twitter there was a tech for Ryu that let him do a like "mid-air crossup" against Honda buttslam. I haven't seen anything like it for Luke but I imagine it exists. If you know about it maybe do a video on it?

I tried it and it definitely works with Luke's jumping MK as well. He can combo into M or OD DP and Level 1 or 2 Super. I think I'll make a video on this tomorrow, thank you for the idea.

Thanks for the vid. It shows us how much of a coin toss this scenario is. The move is good enough with a Drive Rush cancel into jab for a true string and then OKI. I dunno why we're forced to guess even when he doesn't drive rush.

how do you pressure safely with Luke? I keep doing a poke into fireball sometimes mixing in that target combo trying to steal my turn back but I'm just getting smoked in rank against real defensive players. I'm new and got placed in diamond so I'm up and down.

You will almost always lose your turn after fireballs and most pokes besides cr MP and cr LP. However, st HP into heavy fireball is REALLY good, especially in the corner. If you space it, you’re slightly plus, so you keep your turn. You can often loop it and it‘s hard to deal with. Other than that, you could of course use Drive Rush to continue your pressure.

Oh yeah and you could try Heavy Charged Knuckle every now and then, especially if you have Level 3 Super or if they‘re in burnout. But it‘s really easy to react to with Drive Impact most of the time. Btw, if you‘re the kind of player who loves pressure, maybe try Ken or Rashid when he comes out. They have good specials for adding pressure

You can't really confirm it, you're basically committed to the whole whole TC on block, which is poor option cause its not safe without meter. @@casinoz8013 Yeah my bad, I just referred to the other video because I talked about how it's better when you have level 3 super or they're in burnout. I don't think it's a bad poke. It has noticeably more range than crMP. I sometimes use it to counterhit the opponent during their pressure, but only if I'm willing to cancel into DR. You kinda use it around the same range where you'd use crMK. It has a bit less range than crMK but is 1f faster. And with stLP TC, you don't need to cancel into DR if it hit, whereas with crMK, you're usually spending the meter either way. crMK hits low tho.

@jeako777 I honestly don't know. She feels untouchable. Her range just feels ridiculous. Then she does those stupid jabs that just never make it seem like it's my turn. Either I get stuck in this until I run out of meter or shoryuken and they block. Then I get grabbed twice and lose :/ like bruh Then other manons I have an easy time beating. The ones that spam the slide and ice skating kicks. But the ones that just turtle up and jab at, 3 character models away from me, type of ranges. They feel absolutely untouchable

@@sonic-bb Are you talking about her standing medium punch, the move that moves forward? Because her light attacks aren't really much different than other characters. She loses her turn after you block a medium punch, so your crouching medium punch will usually interrupt anything she tries to do after you block her medium punch. Shoryuken is way too risky in that situation.

@@sonic-bb If she's too far for your crouching medium to reach, then her fast buttons won't reach either, except for standing medium punch. But since she moves forward during standing medium punch, your crouching medium punch will hit her. So unless she's very good at whiff punishing your crouching medium punch, I'd say there's not that much risk for you when using that move. These moves are way more annoying to deal with in burnout though

Perfect parry is always an option yes, although the timing will change depending on which version of sandblast Luke used. I didn't include it in this video because it's not easy to do.

Whether I would consider it an overall safe move or not really depends on who he's fighting. Characters with OD reversals can give this move a tough time, but characters without OD reversals need to play the Drive Impact guessing game when they have no level 2/3 super available. It's similar to how Ken's Jinrai Kick is amazing vs chars without OD reversals, but much worse vs chars that have one.

ken's jinrai arent a guessing game until he has level 3 as long as you can react to the canceling of the normal (its the same answer for whatever he's canceling onto) , its just annoying and brain dead. This luke's thing is, if you dont have an compatible EX to interrupt. And even if you have an EX that interrupts the randomness, its just quite worth, i mean, its a pretty decent trade for luke, eating away half the opponent's drive bar... That kind of char design just makes me mad. It throws the matchup's neutral out of the window, and this game is hella fun to play neutral. @@jeako777

If you have a DP or you're Marisa, you can deal with it pretty well. And I wouldn't call it free because he often needs to cancel into OD sandblast

@@jeako777 it's fairly similar to Jinrai kicks where it has different versions to throw people off or can stop it early and risk being negative. I'll try to incorporate the counter play options from the video next time I play a Luke tho thanks. I was usually opting for DI but sometimes would get counter DI. I play Guile and didn't know I could just fk at the end.

I would like to say that if you do the OD shoulder the OD dp won't work, however, Juri, Ken, Ryu and Rashid will win since is multihit. It is a mind game against this tech. I thought that is good to know🦾
