Hia!
So many people, both my age, younger, as well as older, have asked me what to do when your parents don't accept you as transgender or gay (and other LGBT+ identities). This is a really hard question to answer because it is difficult to change a person's view on what is "right" and "wrong". Still, in this video I tried my best to give some tips on how to make things a bit easier. I truly hope it helps some of you out.
Short summarisation:
Be patient with them.
Communicate (This is super important!!! Seriously, mine didn't start accepting me before we started discussing it properly.)
Give them facts (Have them talk to a professional?)
Family therapy?
DON'T EVER BLAME YOURSELF! You're doing what you gotta do to stay alive and happy. They're the ones who have to take that step to acceptance and an open mind.
Internet support groups or ones in your area (Look out for toxic communities!)
Talk to a friend, relative, your school, child protective services or the police if they kick you out.
If distancing yourself from them will be beneficial and your safety is in danger, you are COMPLETELY allowed to do that.
Don't lose hope!
I truly hope everything turns out alright. Stay strong, you're not alone.
