I think it's actively important to use the onion method. For example, when I was decluttering my kitchen, I hadn't used my baking supplies in years but I kept the key ones in the first pass through. Within a week, I was baking again (just an easy banana bread) because it was easy to get out what I needed, use the kitchen, and clean up. One of the aims of decluttering and minimalism is to create more time for the things we value, and hobbies are something that we sometimes want to do but stop doing when the space is too cluttered or feels overwhelming.

I felt the same when she held up the chopper lol! I have the same chopper in my kitchen cabinet, & I've been decluttering my kitchen for years! I never, ever use that thing, for the same reason Dawn doesn't use hers. Why is it still in my cabinet??? I paused the video, went to the kitchen, got the chopper & put it into my donate box. How did she know?? 🤨

I do like the idea of a "time will tell" bin. I know that some of my favourite YT declutterers think of it as procrastination - putting off making a final decision, but I think Dawn has it right when she says that we can get hung up on certain items. Best to put it in the time will tell box and move on to the next item to keep momentum going.

Thanks, Dawn, great tips. I’m struggling to let go of my grandma’s trifle bowls, sugar bowl and cream jug. I don’t use these and never will. She died in 1986 so they’ve been hanging around for a long time. Logically I know they are not my grandma and I don’t need them but every time I decide to donate them I shove them back in the corner cupboard. I’ll get there eventually! I always donate to our local air ambulance charity shop; it makes me feel better about letting go off certain things knowing the money made is going to a good cause. 😊

I've been on a decluttering journey for about a decade and have been watching these videos since I discovered them several years ago. Decluttering has become a constant activity in my home with an ongoing donation bag at any given time. My consumerism tendencies have become more minimal throughout the years through the journey and my contentment has only increased. I have been very grateful for all of these videos because they have helped me create a better space for my family to live in. I've always been somewhat of a minimalist, but I don't believe I would have the same level of confidence to constantly declutter if it weren't for these awesome videos. Thank you so much Dawn!

A timely video...I have recently decided that I'm still not quite ready to go through much of my sentimental items and am chucking them into a bin I get to ignore for a little while. I got a little overly ambitious a few months ago and pulled a bunch of stuff out, only to realize I am overwhelmed and too busy with other projects to tackle this right now. Putting it all away again, now better categorized, will make our space tidy and, rather than feeling mocked by my silent to-do list, I can wait and listen for the season to arrive when I am ready to go through the bin on my own time! My biggest issue is where to donate/ recycle. I have so many bags just waiting to go “somewhere”. I follow several Scandinavian accounts and they have such a great culture around reuse/ recycle areas in buildings and on the street, and that seems to make it super easy to let things go and know they are going to be reused

I have been procrastinating for a long time and I’ve retired and I know I have to face the clutter, and my guy is a bit of a hoarder, but once I got started, I’ve been rolling hard eight hours every day, sometimes it seems like an impossible mountain to climb, but with Dawns mentoring and encouragement, I keep going and just after three hard days life is so much better for me. I’ve taken breaks and taking time to go for walks, and I don’t feel as overwhelmed anymore. I don’t know what’s gonna happen after three weeks of this but I’m just so excited to start this process. The 3 B's have been so helpful to me. I used to use like 3 bins (non-donatable/throwaway). This actually caused me much more work because then I had to go back through them and put the things in a trash bag or a donatable box. The donatable box has been the most helpful. Once it is full or if I'm just ready to get it out of my way it can go straight to the car! Done! The keepable bin with a lid - stick the lid on and put it out of the way. And of course the trash bag - full or not can be gotten out of my way immediately. Trash bags don't cost that much so I don't worry about if they are completely full. If I am done decluttering for awhile it goes on out to the trash. Love your channel!

My two personalities, the minimalist and the hoarder, have been fighting against each other for years to see who takes power. Before, my hoarder self was collecting things for several years to a clear advantage over my minimalist self, which had a lifespan of a few weeks. Now my accumulator self and my minimalist self they alternate every three or four months, without any of them prevailing definitively. At this point I know that I will never get rid of a sufficient number of objects that allow me to settle in minimalism, but it is true that I aspire to an agreement between my two "I" that allows them to coexist peacefully on equal terms and each I'm closer to getting it. I thank this channel for its advice that is helping me a lot

I have followed you, Cas and Dana since you started working together and I love every class and every video. But I have to tell you that this recap you are doing is soon beneficial and helps me regroup and check if I have been missing something. I also appreciate that you always give credits to those you have learn from. That's why so many people love to follow you. Many blessings for you and your family.❤👍🙏

I love this as well. I joined the course through Dana and found Dawn and Cas there. So many content creators are understandably hesitant to share ideas they found from others, because they want to be original and not steal other's work. But then that can sometimes lead to working circles around a good simple solution someone else already figured out just trying to avoid it, and causing more work or angst than necessary. Sharing others' ideas and giving proper credit like Dawn did here I think is an amazing way to do it.

Such a great series for a quick refresher of the basics and to introduce others to minimalism and Dawn. Thank you!

That Pampered Chef chopper is great for making minced onions to put on hot dogs! I'd put it in the time will tell bin for now and remember you have it when it's time to have hot dogs from the grill.

I have had the shove it in my walk in closet cleaning. The house looked so good that I did not want to put anything back! Showed me what I really liked in my house.

Omg..this came in my feed just in time. I have to get my house ready for sale and the decluttering I started a few months ago, giving myself a year to do, has been shortened to a couple months. Since I’m way older than I used to be 😁 when I’m tired I get decision fatigue and it feels overwhelming so going back to basics really, really helps put it all in perspective! I can take a bunch of “undecided bins” with me when I move because good mental/emotional health is worth it and I can deal with those bins later when I’m ready.

Your hair looks fantastic! I would love a tutorial on your minimalist beauty routine, including how you create those loose waves and the curls you do in other videos.
