We just moved and I’ve been watching your videos to help me organize my craft room. I now have several empty plastic boxes which may or may not get used once I unbox more items from the cardboard moving boxes. I’m currently trying to put like items together using your baggie storage system and having more items grouped into one storage container rather than having a bunch of smaller storage containers. It can get overwhelming, but also kind of fun. I LOVE your space. It’s so tidy and pretty. I hope mine can look like that!

Amazing video as always. I really am proud of myself since I have been working on the house. At the moment, I am working on downsizing and organizing what is left in my kitchen. One room out of 6 rooms to be done. I am following your advise to set a timer. If I only get 1 drawer or 1 cabinet done in 1 day, it's all good. I finally have little pockets of sanity and soon, my whole kitchen will be sane again. I have a box of items to donate that I probably wouldn't have had in the past. Thank you for your common sense ideas. All purchases have ceased and I am no longer adding to the mess. I have hope now.

Boxes oh my, I have been on my own decluttering journey for the last year and as I have decluttered I seem to find myself with extra storage containers, but I still am bringing boxes into my home especially copy paper boxes which are the perfect size to handle. Did a few more things yesterday. But really don't know what needs to be done. I'm in the middle of a big scrapbook project that I want to finish. However I set it aside before the holidays.,..how to pick up where I left off? Plus I have decided to quit scrapping, but don't know what to remove before I finish the project? I'll be 77 in a couple of months and things don't get done as easily these days ☺️
@kathryncooper40012 жыл бұрын
With your inspiration I started organizing and decorating my sewing room/office last March (talk about OVERWHELMING!), and I realized that my biggest problem is finding everything I've relocated -- still haven't found my grandmother's tin of buttons. I have spent the last year making an actual MAP of where I think items should go. Great idea in theory, but those locations might not suit me perfectly as time goes on, so the best part of using a map is that it can be revised. Also ... don't forget to LABEL everything that is enclosed/hidden. All my containers are now painted, decorated, and labeled, and I even intend to affix labels to drawers, cabinets and bookshelves, once I've decided on permanent locations for everything. I expect to resume work in that room next month, and I've learned to limit myself to just one hour each day -- I become tired of the job, frustrated, and bored if I overdo. Thanks for all your ideas and encouragement -- each more valuable than you could possibly know.
@TheCraftyOrganizer2 жыл бұрын
I am so dang proud and excited for you!!!! Not the lost tin of buttons part, but the fact that you've embraced what works for you and your best duration times! Hi, my dear Mother passed away in September at age 97. My Dad passed 17 years ago, needless to say there was two lifetimes of things to empty from her house. We managed to sell the house and the family took most of the furniture, however the pictures that Mom and Dad had……now that is overwhelming ! Most of the things take up half of the garage….and much of the spare bedroom. It is still very cold here, and I have RA, so as soon as it warms up a bit, I will see a rule, at least one thing a day! I need to watch your videos every day, and keep motivated….thank you so much.

My rule is "Pick up one thing, put it where it belongs, rinse and repeat." That may be back into the box you took it out of, on a shelf, in a drawer, in a box to sort later into smaller containers, in a donate box or a trash can, but everything has a place. I have boxes, and I am a "in case I need it" person. In the process of setting up my craft/sewing room and very overwhelmed. Following your tips, will let you know how it goes. My problem is having to make some gifts before I am ready to use my craft room. Making more mess looking for things I know I have, but not in their place.

I totally get that!!! Not being able to work in my space or find my things frustrates me so much, that I use the frustration as my motivation to just get it organized!!!!

Mini!! DON'T TOUCH ME THERE! Don't touch me on my boxes! Yes, OK? YES! A garage full! I moved the pile - I can move piles until the cows come home - moved it because I got tired of maneuvering around it, plain and simple. What you just said makes perfect sense. While I'll keep some smaller boxes because they're perfect for decoupage/assemblage/then pretty storage I can absolutely tear down some larger ones. Travis thanks you. You talked about setting a timer for five minutes or working for one song... months ago (I knew there was something I was forgetting to tell you) I got so much done after I asked myself "How much can I get done in half an hour?" Most importantly, and you know me, I was totally able to stay focused!! I'd pick up a squirrel (not a REAL squirrel silly) then put it right back down saying, "No, that's not what we're doing right now", and it worked! Thank you for this! Extra hugs (oh, and BTW, you look GREAT!) Muah! ❤🤗🏜

😩 Empty boxes, yes! The basement was full of them. I am overwhelmed with EVERYTHING! It does seem impossible. My husband says you eat an elephant, one bite at a time. I told him, I am not interested in eating an elephant! They are too filling. Trying to remember what has been accomplished, instead of thinking so much about what still needs done, helps. I can now open the boot closet, without having something fall on my head. Hurray!

LOL Yay for the boot closet!!!!! Your husband is right though..... just one small bite at a time, no matter how long it takes. :D

Hello, I'm so thankful for you and your channel! My biggest challenge is I do so many different crafts that I don't know how to organize everything 😔. I do projects with miniatures, cricut, plaster crafting, painting, wood furniture for dollhouses etc.. I've only ever seen videos with crafters that only focus on one craft in there storage (only scrapbook etc) ... Any suggestions??
@TheCraftyOrganizer2 жыл бұрын
You can either organize by supplies - so that you can cross use them depending on what you are working on - or you can organize by project with multi use tools being left out. That's how I organize. Because I do so many different things too, I have my tools out on a peg board, then separate my scrapbooking from my wood projects. I keep my soft goods (ribbon/fabric/etc) all together, and keep décor supplies in another container. This allows me to find what I want if I am pulling one thing out - but also allows me to be creative and explore the category of supplies when I want to make something. Use book cases or storage racks to separate those things and store in boxes or clear plastic bins so you can see them easily. Does that make sense?

I’m in the process of moving my crafts to the garage and I store all the empty containers/boxes in the front bedroom. I have so many of them that I can hardly maneuver between them! I promised myself that the leftovers would go at the end of the project. This is very scary for me because I have “complete” syndrome. I HAVE to hold on to the lids until I find the bases. Well, it has been several moves of hanging onto these mismatched containers and to date none of them have decided to fit together so it’s time to go!!!

I have problem with doing my re-organization than doing crafts. I think if this was easier to get to, see, whatever I will get more done. It dosent happen often. I also suffer with I want to try so many different things and I will buy the items to do it. Then forget what I was going to do with them! How do you keep track of your ideas you want to do??
@TheCraftyOrganizer2 жыл бұрын
Keep your ideas in a notebook and then you can list the supplies you need and what you already have - you could also go as far as making a note of where you have them stored.

thank you so much. i am doing now the "work on a small space". i got really depressed with all that is going on and i let everything go. my apartment is a disaster and i can't look at it as a whole because it leads to me sitting down and crying. one thing i decided first. get rid of all the garbage. i had recycle bags and boxes all over the place. now i am working on my kitchen one section at a time. i'm also breaking down all those boxes and will take them out because yes they take up so much space. and here's one thing i heard from a rather famous person.. either use your stuff or get rid of it. sell it, donate it. because if you don't, your kids will sell it all at a garage sale for 5 bucks. and i don't have kids. if you have a ton of stuff you don't use, get rid of it for your familie's sake so they don't have to deal with it when you are gone. if there's stuff they want, give it to them now.

Oh, Patricia!!! Sending you giant hugs. I am so glad to hear you did dive in and start with the items that were easy to discard. Please enjoy that feeling of accomplishment and just keep doing a little at a time!!!! You will get there. Keep me posted - I genuinely want to hear how it's going for you. xoxo
