Hi Lynn, I think one of the first things i would do is have a serious family meeting. The kids are all old enough to pick up ANYTHING that they got out, or anything that belongs to them. Nothing hits the kitchen counter or the floor! Before they go to bed, EVERYONE puts their own things away. Dishes, put them in the sink, not on top of the counter. Each kid is responsible for keeping his/her bedroom picked up EVERYDAY! Put their dirty clothes where they belong. You shouldn’t have to pick up after the kids. I have 7 kids and it works perfectly for our family. House stays tidy and clean the majority of the time. Everyone does their job. That leaves me open to actually clean the house and get organized with groceries and meal planning. I think this could really help you out a bit, and release all that stress. Lynn you did great on this video! I enjoy the talking and the slower pace, it helps when you are motivating someone like me to just start a project that needs doing but has been put off. I did a lot of decluttering every time I have moved, several times, and of course all through my years with young ones. They are adults now and do the same! a when my husband passed away in 2022 I did a large cleanout and decluttering then…and now, a couple years later I am doing it again. It is so easy to feel like “I did that, I have that skill down, surely it’s not needed again…” BUT it usually does need doing again! Now I declutter with the mindset of, just keeping what I absolutely use often, and off season stuff too…but, getting rid of things that don’t serve me, and that I know I do not want my kids to wonder what to do with, when someday my time comes. I keep it real simple with decor because I am getting older and I have limited health and energy. Just a couple simple small things are kept for the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays. Doesn’t take a lot to decorate or put away. Cleaning and finding storage room, man, is that ever so much easier. I keep myself from buying things by asking myself if it’s something that serves me now and still lets me reach my goal of a simple, easy to maintain home. Usually I do not give in. It’s made my life nice and streamlined, and it keeps me calm. Good for you, you did a great job! I hope you and all your family are feeling healthy again real soon. ❤

I knew I loved you and now I know why....I'm also from Memphis, born and raised! I now live in central Missouri and am quite a bit older than you. My children are your age. I loved this video and really needed it. I'm having a difficult time letting go of clothes that I love but no longer need. I retired 2 years ago and still have a closet overflowing with my dressy casual work wear...more than I'll ever get to wear to church in several seasons! You've given me the courage and rationale to declutter some of those items. It will be hard and may take several passes but I can do it! I love it when Emma pops in during your filming! I have been procrastinating this for such a long time, not something I jump up and down and can’t wait to get started. I would love to , just not there at this time in my life. I have been through many emotional things that have just made me not have the mental strength to keep up on the things that gave me joy in the past. Organizing and cleaning would give me joy! Truly!! I would help others that I knew as well. I had someone pop over today and I felt like crawling underground! I would never feel uncomfortable about this before! I keep watching videos with the hope to get the motivation to get started. I’m always saying to my adult children I am paralyzed and overwhelmed now. I need help! Hi Lynn, what I did with a couple of T-ShirtsI just wanted to keep is cut them to fit on a sofa pillow of your choice. One side is the T-shirt and the other side the actual pillow. That way I can enjoy seeing it or a great conversation starter instead of just sitting in a drawer never to be seen. Of course, anyone who has a lot of t-shirts can make a blanket. I took one of my dance costumes from when I was 14 and did the same thing - really turned out cute. Things own us! Less is more. I have always loved clothes but realized you can only wear so much, the rest just sits in a drawer or hangs around. I finally decided to get rid of all the extra. Just have enough to wear. And….I don’t even miss them. I have empty drawers and space in others but I never plan to fill it up again..buy something get rid of something. Great video with lots of motivation!!❤

I had to move from a large home that I loved, with lots of closets and storage to a small apartment with my son a few years ago. It makes me sad because I have a lot of really nice things that I enjoy and want to use/wear but I just don't have the space. I feel like I live in a storage unit. I've come to terms that I need to get rid of things and I know I will start to feel relief once I do. Thank you for inspiring me!!

🥰 I am one of those very rare people who is blessed with a gigantic closet. My nephew came to visit and said that my closet was bigger than his bedroom. No joke. With that being said it stops me from decluttering clothes because I have so much space. I feel like I have too many clothes because I do that thing where I look at it and say I have nothing to wear but I have an entire small room full of clothes. Maybe I can fill it with other storage items instead. I guess we're just never content. LOL

It IS a lot! You are not wrong for feeling overwhelmed, but take on a tiny part at a time. Organize it and that may help with keep what you need and getting of what you don’t. Maybe an accordion folder and sort it all. That may help. Youve got this!

I kind of stick to a uniform. Now that I’m retired I have blue and black jeans and black leggings to work out. Black Tshirts and sweatshirts. People have said I wear too much black, I don’t dress for them. I feel uncomfortable in pastels and bright colors.

46 and went to a Korn concert last year 😂 when it comes to band t shirts has a strong memory attached and I can no longer wear it, I keep them and repurpose them, for example making cushion covers. I don’t have a specific colour scheme or aesthetic for my home so I don’t need them to match. Maybe I do have an aesthetic it’s mismatched 😂❤
