When I was 12 I was just doodling on a 32x32 box pleat and made an approximation of a scorpion, so I unfolded it, tweaked the proportions a bit, and sketched the final crease pattern into a graph paper note book I had I lost the book around the same time I lost interest in origami, about 16yo, but after 9 years I found it last month. I remade my scorpion from that and I dare say it's pretty damn good. I am going to revisit that design with what I learn in this series. Please with me luck ☺️

Duude thank you so much for making this series! I always wondered how people come up with their own designs and I've always wanted to make my own too. I've got Origami Design Secrets and am slowly going through it, but putting it to practice has been hard. I'm excited to start this course!!

The main reason i want to learn Origami design is because it allows me to create these 3d things that require little to no money. You could create origami with a square sheet of paper and a flat surface. When I'm bored, just being able to make something to play around is nice

I very often give origamis to my friends as gifts, but is hard to find the specific things they like or the desing isn't as pretty as my friends deserve it. I can't give simple origamis to such amazing people

This is gonna be great! I’ve always wanted to learn how to design, there’s so many objects that don’t have good models yet

Me too! I have this fantasy of designing and folding a model of an object right after looking at it. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I hope I'll learn it here.

i've decided i wanna learn origami design bc i just like the feeling of having the fundamentals down, and it basically goes for anything and everything i learn. i hate the feeling of needing to follow step by step tutorials and i think this will allow me to feel a lot more free (if that makes any sense.) i also wanna learn origami bc i think i can incorporate my knowledge into real world concepts. I actually draw and paint a lot and plan on applying to art school, so i think learning origami design can help me along the way ! again, thank you so much for this course; i hope to see improvement with own knowledge !😌😌☃

1. Some benefits to designing original models are adding to the mountainous melting pot of the origami community. It also helps you create whatever you want with little setbacks 2. I wanted to make a certain videogame item (the winged strawberry from celeste) and since it has become one of my favorite games recently i wanted to make an origami model of it.

Awesome video. And really motivational 😄. Now I'm really hyped to start designing something on my own 😃

Thank you for sharing your experience! For the homework part: My reason I wanna design is not included in this video: I want to fold a model (in fact, Winnetou) which is not existing yet! And if I could design him, he will exist in origami! and this motivates me very much!

Do you have any recommendations for where to find diagrams? I've only been folding for a couple weeks and want to get more practice under my belt before I really start designing
@ThePlantPsychologist3 жыл бұрын
My go-to recommendation for beginner books is probably Genuine Origami by Jun Maekawa, which I folded from a lot when I was a kid. Another good book for simpleish models is Fold With the Flow by Oriol Esteve. You can also watch Jo Nakashima's youtube videos if you don't want to buy a book
