I’m a woman….worked in healthcare all my life and I have never seen my workplace as neither male nor female specific. This type of stupidity spilling out of one woman should NOT be applied to all women. Her demands are bordering on ridiculousness (I’m the one whose freezing out my male colleagues AND men do shuffle car seats as well)

The door grip thing she's complaining about is weird, because there should be a button for handicap people first, which then solves the grip problem, but not in this video no, apparently women have it so hard that they need to be catered over the handicap. I'm fine with being courteous to those who are impaired, but this emphasis on design for women? Really? Try not having your legs work and see how much the world is designed in mind for those with working legs

Recently I worked in an office that was really cold. It didn't have any air conditioner, it was just an old industrial building converted into a loft for offices. Most of the employees were women and I was the one who was cold the most all the time! At least we had some blankets there (which is a great solution, btw).

Yes and history doesn't even agree on this silly point. The only history you're probably familiar with is a very narrow euro centric form where women were chattels. Maybe read some history from outside that bubble and you'll see that there were times in history where the masculine and feminine were much more in harmony, not pitting one against the other( like most of this comment section).

I think the right title will be "How to design workplace and cities for women in the US" or "for people", because it's mainly a US problem. Especially in terms of transportation. Even in Russia we have better public transportation systems then in the states. The "baby on a workplace" argument seems strange. Office is a place for work, not a daycare or kindergarten. I get that unexpected things happen sometime, but if you are not expected to bring a baby along with you (unless it's in your contract) than why should you expect an infrastructure for it? Also bringing your buddy (from outside of the organization) to some corporate training event is strange imho, I would like to get a deeper take on it.

If you enjoy reading, there's a book called "invisible women" that gets into more of the data. I think a lot of these issues stem from the fact that we as a society are trying to act like men and women are the same (someone can just identify as the other now apparently). There's clearly differences and we should embrace and balance the masculine and feminine.

A lot of her points were how women are less productive than men, presumably because they're not "happy, or comfortable, or safe" enough. What is women are literally less industrious than men though? And more high-maintenance... I'm not remotely against tailoring a world more for women, but this presentation was so melodramatic and based in emotion, I can't take her seriously on so many arguments. She's too emotionally driven to be taken seriously.

Much of this could be solved by women giving more childcare responsibilities to her partner. Who will be working at the bank when you extend the hours? You want to make parking lots even BIGGER which will make cities warmer and increase the distance you have to walk to get to the building? It seems like this is for women who chose to work full time and bare the majority of the work of raising a child simultaneously. That scenario precludes having the same productivity as a single worker with no dependents.
@billyburton123
@billyburton123 Жыл бұрын
The office is a grim place where you go and just do work. It's not even specifically tailored for men more so than it is just the bare simple minimum of a building, because men are simple minimalist creatures who don't want to think, and here you go about making workplaces be more like a "dream home", with a place for the kids to play, etc. I'm sorry but the work office was never designed for kids in mind either. I tried to come into this with an open mind but this is the exact reason why there are a lot of patronizing comments along the lines of: "aww what's wrong sweetie? Did they not make your Starbucks grande latte correctly :(?"
@210Artemka
@210Artemka Жыл бұрын
I do not agree about the office being just for work. You spend quite a lot of time there so why not make it nice? Coming from an IT industry, I can say that we made great progress there. However, building office space suitable for kids and babies is just nonsense. If the company wants you to bring children to work, than they can build their workspace that way. But if you are not expected to do it (and you are not in most cases) than why do you want them to spend resources on that? Even if they do, do not expect an equal salary after that...

timing = 12:02. what would it take to make these changes the anther. in this caption, the word 'anther' should be "answer". I'm an intermediate English learner and also to my ear, it would somewhat resonate 'anther'. even that sophisticated Google translate express it as he heard. And it might be useful/crucial function for language learners in order to progress our pronouncing skills. I can't correct my pronunciation 'work/walk", "a/the" how many times I repeat to try to correct it, but GT is unforgiving/relentless.

@RaspK
@RaspK Жыл бұрын
She is literally spouting nonsense; women don't generally have 9 times lower handgrip strength (maybe weakest woman to strongest man?), and that's still irrelevant, as pulling a door open has more to do with core strength, i.e. the muscles found all over your torso, and secondarily leg strength and upper arm strength; even including the generally higher male strength, the reality of the matter is that the main contributing factor, as multiple studies have showing with their differing results, has always been how you apply that strength - as bad form minimizes your output. To put it simply, if a woman tries to pull with her fingers, which is what handgrip strength basically translates into, that's her fault!

this has to be the dumbest ted talk i have lisened to. gripp streanth does not help you open doors if you are trying to crush the grip thats probebly why its hard work trying to open doors. either put your weight into it to push the door open or pull the door preferably with your back muscles or you can use the door opening button that exist for some doors. women do not need larger parking spots if you have a problem learn to park. the child facility sounds like a good ide but what if we could make a large one from multible companies to save money and could also have people educated in child development to look after this children and make sure the cildren are stimulated and learn to socilize with thair peers, lets call the facility a kindergarden.
