This video is amazing! This is how I make patterns but in my head I always feel like I suck at it since I have to make so many prototypes. I just assumed that everyone else was naturally good at it and I was the only one who had to make so many before I liked it.

A lot of this is great advice thank you. It’s very similar to how to got into crochet. I would rather learn more then scramble later. I knew absolutely nothing about crochet. Dove in with granny squares (non traditional and did it by magic circle AND ring. Jumped in deep end and crocheted squares as I continued to learn. Now I keep a journey journal, and immerse myself in it all. I’m happy I stumbled upon your video 🧡

Thank you for all the helpful tips! I've been thinking about trying to create my own patterns for a while. One question though: since as you mentioned, so many base structures are very similar, how do you avoid unintentionally copying someone else's pattern? Like I know you can differentiate it with the details (such as the pajamas) but aren't there probably a lot of similar base structures for a lot of different patterns? And it's probably impossible to check every single one. Would another pattern creator be upset if you somehow ended up with the exact same structure, even if the final look was different? Idk, I might be over thinking it...
@reigningcharmz
@reigningcharmz Жыл бұрын
Hello! So as it is true that base structures can be made the same way, it’s still very possible to have a unique pattern. That’s why the inspiration and research phase is so important! So when I research, I look and see what kind of bear patterns are out there. Are they standing, sitting, cartoon-y, realistic? The answer to these help you build a unique pattern. For me, I didn’t really see any baby bears, and if I did, they weren’t as big as I was going, they didn’t use velvet yarn, and they weren’t standing. So when I went to do my project, I included all of those. I haven’t been able to find a baby bear pattern yet that looks like mine, (is the same size, material, concept), and that is how you make an original pattern☺️

This is good information. My only issue is that there has been an onslaught of patterns on etsy that are written so incorrectly. I have had to research the shop to see how long the seller has actually been crocheting and writing patterns. I wish people would actually learn how to read the pattern prior to writing a pattern. Patterns should be reviewed by a certified crochet teacher prior to any publication. Yes, it costs money, but you are selling to consumers and don't accept refunds in pdfs.

Can you please explain, maybe in another video, exactly how to get pattern testers? How precisely do you find these folks? I know you mentioned Instagram but how would i search that and then ask individuals if they want to test? Are these other crochet artists? And are they getting compensated or do they just want a free pattern?? Thanks so much for the great video!
@reigningcharmz
@reigningcharmz 2 ай бұрын
@@MMLZombie I could do a video or perhaps a short for that! But basically, you just make a post on Instagram with the completed plushies as the picture, and then you write in the description that you are looking for pattern testers, what time frame you’re looking for completion, and a few other things I’ll explain. Then people will comment and you just send them a message on Instagram and email the pattern to them and they get back to you. No compensation, just the free pattern ☺️

Hi, I have a question about the pattern testing. I'm not sure how I can tell my testers whether they have been chosen to test or not. Also I'm not sure how I should send them the pattern. Thank you so much for this video it helped a lot!

Could you take an image of a plush toy and create a crochet pattern of it?
@reigningcharmz
@reigningcharmz 4 ай бұрын
@@sandraproctor819 you could, but I don’t think you could monetize the pattern you’d probably have to make it a free pattern since that plush would be someone else’s design that’s already a plush just different material, if that makes sense

Amigurumi is a Japanese word. It is not pronounced Aim-igirumi. Think of the "Am" sound as being the same as Amigo.
