I'm sure this will be discussed on a future episodes, but can you show various examples of what doe pockets look like and how to create?
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors29 күн бұрын
@@LILFawnkiller yes sir it’s on the list.

Are the winds predominantly East and West? What’s the topography like? Is this flat?

IMHO the second food plot should be on the NW corner. Having the plot in the center of the bedding does not make any sense to me. Even accessing via the road, you will be walking through the middle of the bedding. Your depth of cover will be far superior and leaves massive bedding areas for the does close to the plots and the bucks will likely be on the outer perimeter. ALL IMHO, and I have been hunting for 55 years and growing food for 40. Cheers and Merry Christmas.

No one’s walking through the middle of bedding.

No one’s walking through the middle of bedding and I’m not worked about depth of cover sounds like you’ve been watching to much of the wrong people on KZbin.

@@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors Like I said, it was my opinion, along with 50 years of hunting and farming/plotting experience. I wish you will and good luck.

@ I appreciate your opinion but like I said it’s a snap shot. Hard to see without boots on the ground. It doesn’t affect bedding areas at all.

So what wind would you hunt the western two (interior ones) and the northern food plot sets on? How are the ones on the edge of the northern food plot, but within the core and between bedding, not intrusive/disruptive?
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors14 күн бұрын
@@garretts1604 I would hunt it just the way it’s set up! Wind in my face blowing behind me in non deer areas! The map is not positioned north to south. There’s a huge road and with massive ditch between the plot and across the street wind would not be an issue. Nothing is intrusive. I’m walking the edges to get the stands and my plots.

West coast of Norway here. I am a bit envious of your flattish terrain. My land is a very narrow valley and the shoulder on the outlet of the valley. This limits my options a great deal as the deer can always travel on the hillsides, and they bed down there, and browse there during daytime. 45deg inclination of those sides mostly. Land suitable for food plots was developed already 1000 years ago (literally), and is located at the bottom of the valley. About 5 acres of fields (long and narrow) and 750 acres of steep mountainsides. Any tips on how to make the least bad of such a situation? Would love to fly you over for an inspection. ;-)

@@rolfnilsen6385 you can use that your your advantage they will take the path of least resistance. Using the benches and any saddles. You can also make hinge cut acres to block them off a certain way and steer them in a certain direction. And in that case make pockets of openings to allow more sun and have browse areas/pockets

@@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors Thank you for the answer and sharing the knowledge. There are some practical issues that are hard to come around with the steepness of the terrain. Trees are mostly small and the deer often use the upper areas with brush near the trees growing limit. I tend to climb up there and hunt in the open area above 1200 feet where there is grass and heather. What I find is that they often live in these hills without coming down to the fields at all. I'll sharpen my chainsaw again :-)

Why have the 2nd food plot right in the middle of the property? Just looks like no matter what the wind its blowing into some of your bedding pockets
@WhitetailobsessionoutdoorsАй бұрын
@@mikegruber-kc4hz its divided by a road the food plot sits next to it so it’s easy access to get to. With the wind blowing back toward the road there’s no issues.
