I asked a few women who I dated their body counts and I was rarely ever shocked. In my personal experience if a woman is really good in bed and she’s also very chill and relaxed in terms of personality, then she usually has a pretty high count. Interestingly enough, those really chill sexual women never really feel the need to hide or lie. Anytime I’ve asked a woman like that her count she usually says she doesn’t know but estimates some range (between 30-40 at age 22 for example, with my ex). I don’t feel like those types of women lie because they don’t view it as a bad thing or something to be hidden. which I can appreciate. I did ultimately end it with my ex because her number was too high for me to be capable of committing to her on a long term basis. She hit me with some good logic. She suggested that I’d have to accept a number eventually with whoever I end up with, and that whatever that number is would be arbitrary. But I just can’t seem to articulate my intuitions regarding high body counts and women properly. It’s hard to intellectualize but if I had to express it in words, it invokes a sort of “biological revulsion” in me. Maybe the remnants of evolutionary biology, I don’t really know.

Your revulsion is the result of evolutionary biology. It’s a way to deal with paternal uncertainty: mother‘s baby, father‘s maybe. Men‘s preference for a low notch count is due to that. A women that has slept around a lot is likely to keep doing that, which increases the likelihood of you investing in a child that isn’t even yours. Hence the double standard.
