The value of the basic closed guard while securing an overhook and collar tie cannot be overstated.

I wish all BJJ schools taught students used gloves to simulate what would happen in a street fight. I think it makes BJJ more fun and teaches students what to do in real world situations.

What are the best guards to learn for mma and self defense? I've been doing bjj for over a year and the only guard I know how to use is full guard. What guards should I start looking into? I tried to stare dabbling in butterfly guard but from what I see you have a couple of sweeps and that's it. I've seen on KZbin people talk about the wiliams guard and rat guard wich seem like an extinction of the closed guard (I'm definitely going to start looking into Williams guard more). And when it comes to the rubber guard i don't like it at all it makes knees hurt and i just don't wanna do it. But what guards should I learn or focus on to improve my universal juijitsu?! I would love to hear you're suggestions

"Youre gonna get deep in the deep half guard game". Well I guess its called "deep" half guard for a reason XD. I've got an mma question: What do you think about rolling backtakes and the truck in MMA?
@grapplingbuddy24185 жыл бұрын
Berimbolo definitely is suicide in MMA. Truck is great
@nooneatall56125 жыл бұрын
I was not referring to the berimbolo, but the rolling back take from side control or quarter mount that gets you directly to the truck, my only concern is that just going to mount may be better.
@grapplingbuddy24185 жыл бұрын
@@nooneatall5612 Yeah, I call it truck role:) sometimes it is hard to get mount against a good guard player, sooo you need to have a trick in your sleeve. But genetally, yeah directly going to mount may be better

I faint a lot. Opponents have to stop reacting to all of my moves and that's when I mix in a real strike. There's an art to this though. If you don't understand range and have good speed it's probably not a style for you.

Trurtle guard aka hurtle guard
@Rilasis5 жыл бұрын
Turtle is a stupid position to fight from. It's not really a guard. I guarantee Firas hates it because you can punch the hell out of someone who isn't even looking at you.
@francisconikotian23263 жыл бұрын
I dont think that it is really a guard but more of a last resort you try to get out of

A taller opponent...what IF he moves like domique cruz? . What IF The taller guy watch ur old video about and already closed those holes? What IF is The taller is an intp? You take him Down and hope he doesnt fuck you up going for his legs cuz all of the kneejoggling with balls or guilottine. He has no offensiv jiu jiutzu.. Or does he? Hope ur well firas! But there is not A taller opponent.. and people adapt if you find a solution. Offense is best defence, lets says 4 hertz in total balance with an Arsenal that would make mvp jealous. His work is meassuring distance w The hand i never miss my mail boxes. Properreceptors my friend. Spacial awareness 9/10 And dont clinch with a chin up expert that can slam dunk . @nooneatall56125 жыл бұрын
Almost always no gi BJJ. All submissions legal and no points. With or without time limit. Sometimes with EBI overtime which is roughly who can submit more often in back/armbar.
@nickmatthews76005 жыл бұрын
@@nooneatall5612 ... sub only = matches without points, have to win by submission within the time limit or its a draw. Doesn't mean every submission is legal either
@nooneatall56125 жыл бұрын
Yes you are correct, but 90% of the time its all subs legal so I can see why I incorrectly generalized.
