How to Deworm Feral Cat Colonies, Barn Cats, Fast, Easy and All Natural

How to deworm feral cat colonies, multi cat households, barn cats or kittens fast, easy and all natural, it’s pretty easy, I’ve been doing it for years with great success! I use 100% food grade diatomaceous earth and I’ll share my method that works best for me.
Be sure to use food grade diatomaceous earth, also referred to as DE. You may be able to find it at your local farm store! I do make a sell a special blend with added ingredients of probiotics, lemongrass, vitamin and olive leaf for added benefits, but these ingredients are not needed for the deworming. Oh goodness! I’m guessing you can’t get close enough to these feral kitties for topical treatments? So I’d maybe start with homeopathics. Sulphur 30c might help. You could crush 3 or 4 pellets and add to a water dish daily for a few weeks. Don’t touch the pellets put them in a dish and crush them with the back of a spoon. You could add some tuna juice to the water to entice them to drink it. I’d also use the food grade diatomaceous earth in any areas they sleep, if this contacts the ring worm overtime it will heal it. Also feeding lysine will really help boost their immune system and make them more resistant to ringworm!

Start with once daily for 7 days then you can move to once weekly for prevention!

I have a question. I’m hoping you can help me. I have a mama cat and three kittens that are only 3 weeks old. They all have fleas 😢. Is it safe to use DE on them for fleas? And when the babies are old enough to eat can I use de to worm them?

Yes you can dust the babies! With the little kittens do from the shoulders down, the fleas will most likely all crawl to their head where there is no powder so start at the shoulders and work down. When the kittens can drink milk from a plate (probably getting close) you can deworm them as well!

If you can, do it outside and just work slowly so it won’t make a lot of dust! The dust won’t hurt their lungs with a few exposures, it’s breathing large amounts over extended periods but of course you want to avoid breathing any dust at all times. I’ve dusted my own kittens many times and they’ve grown to older adults with no lung problems at all.

Hello, yes! Garlic is only toxic to both cats and dogs in large amounts, just like water can be toxic too! Small amounts of garlic has huge benefits! My cat Whinny has eaten garlic nearly daily for 17 years. For a more authoritative look at garlic for pets, look up Dr Karen Becker. So much good info! It’s funny if you search google is garlic toxic you will get lots of results stating how it’s toxic but if you google benefits of garlic for pets you’ll get those too!

I have a question. Does diatomaceous earth expire? I have cut the bag open and I left it open like that in my garage. Does letting air in lessen its effectiveness? I've had it two years and was just wondering if I've ruined it by not having the bag rolled up to keeo the air out.

That’s a great question and one I get a lot! No not all, DE does not expire, it is mostly silica like ground sand and much like fine dirt! The structure that can kill pest will not ever change! Your bag should be good open for many more years!!

Actually 10 ppm colloidal silver works great on ring worm! I haven’t tried using DE for ring worm but it’s worth trying! I’d probably make a paste with a little water and apply it and let it dry. Reapply daily and see if there is any change?

DE is IMMEDIATELY rendered useless when wet, so is completely pointless when mixed into wet food or ingested.

This isn’t so true, it’s less effective on hard shelled exoskeletons when wet but still is effective for soft bodies like parasites. This information your sharing pertains to using this topical, when DE is wet it forms a clay that does not adhere to most bugs that crawl across it, however when ingested it coats intestinal parasites and is effective at destroying their outer layers. It’s excellent as a dewormer, I’ve been using it for years and have done before and after fecal counts with my vet with great results!
