Cool. So to test the actuator. Leave it plugged in . Un bolt it and engage the 4wheel drive button/know/switch.

I tested the wires and 11 volts #2 #3 it doesn't change when you switch it to 4+4 . Only had one live wire before I left battery unplugged over night. But only thing that moves is transfer case.

Quality diagnosis and repair. You have to ask why Stellantis/Dodge place a plastic encased actuator in a hostile environment such as the underside of the chassis. No surprise it failed at just 81,000. As Jack says, buy a Toyota or Honda.

The only “good” thing about plastic is that it’s impervious to rust. Other than that, it’s just an effort by manufacturers to cut costs.

Thanks for the video. But didn't fix mine. 06 1500 Dodge replaced front actuator. 12 volts on #3 wire . Continuity tested all 4 wires to firewall, all good. Transfer case is definitely kicking in. What do you think about this problem. I'm stuck. Can you help??

Great videos man alot of great information and well explained. You previously did a video on a oil pressure sensor for a 2011 ford i belive. i did mine recently and replaced it with pigtail but now when i turn it on the oil guage doesnt go up untill a few minutes of driving it it only happens in the morning or when truck been sitting for a few hours. Any ideas why any help would be greatly appreciated

To check the actuator could you just take off the old one plug it in and switch into 4wd to activate it, like you did with the new one, and watch to see if it moves?

You certainly could. However, even if the actuator doesn’t move, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s bad because it may not be getting the proper power and ground inputs, which is why I checked the wires to make sure it’s getting all the correct signals.

I just bought the truck and now replaced front actuator and it still isn't fixed. Cruise control doesn't work check engine light on speedometer works at first then suddenly stops . Finally got motor running good. Know this. Im broke.
