that old timing chain was still perfect, no need to change it, that's the point. there is always a tensioner to compensate for that little stretch

What I always do, is after you clean the slots under the hardware, I always put a very light coat of grease on the slot before installing the hardware. This way, it won't rust and cause the hardware to tighten around the pad.

PSA to anyone who will listen: timing chains do not "stretch", they grow. The steel isn't actually stretched, the increased length comes from wear of each individual link pin and the link pin holes of each individual link segments. Timing belts stretch, not chains

Ladies and gentlemen, this is why you buy classic cars. Might not be as fancy or safe on the inside, but they’re indestructible and almost always cooler-looking. At this rate, I’m glad I bought a used Mini for my first car (Canadian), as Europe has laws against this BS

Don’t buy that vehicle. I really think the people who makes these decisions need to go back to the drawing board so your not having to remove 1+ parts to fix one thing that may appear to be simple.
@crispyjokingtuna149521 сағат бұрын
That’s some pretty heavy varnish for only 40k miles. The owner ain’t doing a very good job at oil changes on time, or they’re following the new dealership creed of 10k between oil changes

I had a 2016 Tahoe that started shifting weird around 60k. Changed the fluid and filter, no change. Around 80k, I noticed the tach would flutter especially when going up hills. The transmission would hold it's gear but the whole vehicle would shudder. 93k, transmission failure. Would not move at all. Local transmission guy won't even touch the GM 6 speed units. He says they are junk and I believe him.

Some MBA with an accounting background though saving 50 dollars in material costs on a 50k vehicle was good for their quarterly presentation, and some other stupider MBA with a vice president seat was stupid enough to approve the proposals. Both couldn’t care less if it ruins the company’s reputation for a decade to have faulty engine designs. These are the same fools we bailed out in 2008.
@gawddangthatsmoist2251Күн бұрын
Why would they build vehicles to last 250k plus miles when they would rather they break at 100k and you have to go buy a new one every 5 years which is more profit to them? Come one we're not that stupid to not know this.....
