How to diagnose and replace car radiator fan - Nissan Versa example

Before you replace the fan, it is important to properly diagnose the issue. It could also be a blown fuse or fan relay, broken or malfunctioning coolant temperature sensor, damaged electrical wiring, etc.
Common symptoms of broken radiator fan are:
-Fan never turning on
-Overheating
-Smoke coming from engine compartment
-Coolant overflow
-Check engine light on the dashboard
-Air Conditioner blowing hot air when stopped or driving in slow traffic
When you fan is not working and you are driving at high speeds, the radiator is still getting cooled off by incoming air. As soon as you stop moving, the coolant temperature starts to quickly go up.
You can also try to supply 12v directly to the fan, if it’s possible to do so easily. On some cars you can’t get to the fan connectors unless you take out the entire fan assembly.
Connect 12 volt battery to the wiring harness. Black is usually negative side, and red or blue is positive. One of the connectors is for high fan speed, and the other one is for low speed. Test both of the connectors. Here is how a brand new fan looks like, and the old fan is not spinning at all when supplying power to it. Once you verified the fan is broken - go ahead and replace it. In some cases it could be cheaper to replace just the fan motor, and reuse the original fan shroud. Be sure to consider that option as well.

I got a new fan tested. It works but after I put it in. The new fan still never turns on.

Check your old fan, maybe its still good, just bad fuse or relay.

Fans in general are so reliable, why then is it not in Nissan cars. This has to be a deliberate scam.
