Hello angel. This is the third or fourth video I've watched of yours and not only do I enjoy your videos I really appreciate all the little quirks from leaving the cuss words , engaging with your child and your thoroughness of completing the job. And how you stop and point little things out and put words to the videos expressing detail. A lot of guys who do content don't do this and it is the extra effort that makes all the difference. Once again thank you kindly!

Brooooooo what an amazing tutorial, I can tell u it's the most complete video on youtube. I've seen like 15 different videos and none of them mention the little tricka like the position for the jiggle valve on the thermostat, the torque specs for the bolts on the water pump. I'm really glad to have found this video to change the timing belt in my Xterra. Thanks man!!!

@kaiserwillie67 Жыл бұрын
If her belt broke yeah she would need a engine swap but this guy was lucky in that the ribs on the belt broke and not the belt itself. Then again that shop could have been trying to work her over. Angel is an honest guy and save his customer thousands.

That is a BIG job to do in a driveway. You have my admiration. Timing belts were a bad concept for the American market. Americans will not spend money on maintenance if the vehicle is running fine. I bet the belt and components on this Nissan were the originals from the manufacturer.
@evan9372 жыл бұрын
I agree. This is why I have always bought vehicles with timing chains instead.
@TheOverisel2 жыл бұрын
@@evan937 I own two 2000 Camrys with the 4 cylinder. In the world of timing belts this is an easy engine to work on. But it still took my old ass an entire day to do each. I did include oil pump seal and gasket as well as new camshaft seal and crankshaft seal. On each car they were all rock hard and leaking. Used Aisin made in Japan parts so hopefully I won't have to them again for a loooong time.

Good job in putting together this video. The only suggestion I would make would be to remove the radiator. It's so easy to do and will give you a lot more working room and you won't have to worry about smashing the cooling fins while you remove the front engine components.

Disappointing thing to happen Eh? I'm a Tech and keep my 01 Xterra super tuned and just lost my timing belt at 200,347 miles. Yep, I overlooked changing it at it's mileage changing point. I haven't repaired mine yet but are worried about valve or piston damage. This video gives me the hope to just do the repair and turn the key.
@Burrrrrrrr256 ай бұрын
@@davidparks6444 the way those motors are designed it’s rare for damage. If it turns over still it’s good. Job takes about a day it’s not too terrible the timing belt tensioner is the hardest/most aggravating part.

Good job Angel, just a few extra added tips for everyone. DON'T EVER use those water pumps composite/paper gasket that comes with some timing belts kits bcuz they will SURELY fail either on start-ups or prematurely and they are a pain to clean off from the block especially in the NORTH(Rust belt). I've done lots of timing belts and water pumps job all bcuz the previous person used those composite/paper gasket. The correct or best gasket for this water pump is a metal gasket and they are not expensive at all ($10 - $25), it will save the customer/you hundreds if not a thousand dollar down the road. So my advice to everyone is use the same gasket as the OEM and you wouldn't have a problem.

Thanks Angel. You really don't have to censor the cussing. We don't have virgin ears and we understand. Unless you are being made to do so by KZbin. In which case maybe you could do cutting out the audio instead of the beeping. But cursing is a sign of openness and raw frustration which we all can understand when working on these junkers.
